We didn't even do turkey this year. We did scampi and tuna steaks.
Christmas is always goose or duck. One year we did cornish hens, that was good too.

Oven roasted sweet potato is a regular at our place all year long.
Peel, cut into cubes (you pick the size, I usually do cm x cm), toss in olive oil, season with S&P, and put in over until roasted, I usually do 425ish

You just spatchcock the thing and cook to the correct doneness with a meat thermometer and not your Grandmas pre-refrigeration doneness.
Kenji has all the details.
https://www.seriouseats.com/butterfi...h-gravy-recipe
Cuts down coming time a tonne and cooks light and dark meat correctly and let’s you use the back to make stock for gravy. Better all round. You also should roast chickens like this 30-45 min and you have roast chicken.

Hah, I get what you're saying, but I probably seem like more of a contrarian than I actually am IRL. Online, conversation is really only interesting when you disagree with something, so that's when I tend to pipe in. If somebody says something I agree with, I'll probably thank their post or do nothing. I mean, a reply to say "+1" or "this" is hardly interesting.

Yes, otherwise you're in a circle jerk bubble. Those forums die every single time.

People seem to prefer that these days. More and more people seem to want to only surround themselves with people they agree with.
Sounds boring to me

I actually really like turkey dinner. We hosted our first one ever about 5 years ago and I loved the process, our turkey was delicious. Then afterward you have soup or sandwiches for days.

So boring. There's another forum I was a part of for many years, but it's just filled with toxic positivity and everybody agreeing with everybody else now. Such a snooze.

Boring + If you never have your opinions challenged you just turn into such a twat, and then can't handle it when you do run into someone that disagrees

lol, that's probably how these super conservative posters on here feel, but I swear they cannot back up their perspective with facts so I don't think we have group-think.

Thanksgiving is what you make of it.

I love stuffing as well. There are a bunch of great recipes I have used in the past but honestly even a box of Stove Top is awesome, in my opinion. I buy Stove Top throughout the year as a quick and easy snack at home. A box of stuffing with some chorizo sausage and gravy is incredible.

Great point, stuffing (also called dressing) can go great with a nice Pork Roast as well.

Never eat too much turkey at thanksgiving because - pie.
DW bakes 5 kinds because each invitee has a favourite and I get a little slice of every one.

Stove Top is an awesome side year round. Under $2, ready in 5 mins with basically braindead prep instructions. Underrated.
Flavors of Montreal does a poutine with stuffing in it and it's bomb as well.

I hate the red arrow signal like the one at 17th Ave SW and Richmond Rd. It’s meant to protect cyclists from idiots, which is great, but those idiots still don’t turn when it’s a solid red. I just yelled at a woman who wouldn’t turn with no traffic in sight. After I told her she could go she said she was choosing not to. Ok, moron.
When the light turned green she immediately turned right into the left lane without signalling only to get into the right lane 100m later. Typical struggler.
