May have been posted before, may have been lost, but Devon is now in a state of emergency as the North Saskatchewan River is rising

Has anyone seen a breakdown of downtown zones with/without power?

It is, but preventative in nature from what I understand. Similar as up here in Edmonton, just to be on standby in case need to get ready. Reportedly are only expecting a potential tiny bit of low level localized flooding, if at all.

I haven't been to the Medicine Hat Arena since Jay Bouwmeester was a Tiger, but IIRC, the surface is at ground level, so they shouldn't see the kind of flood we did in the Saddledome. Though, obviously, water running overland is going to end up just like that pic shows.

That photo that you husband took is on the High River Fire Departement FaceBook site as being High River.

Well I can guarantee it was taken while they were at Cross Iron Mills. They were stopped there to refuel and then they were heading to High River. They were stopped there for maybe an hour. We stood outside and took pictures for almost the whole time. They were definitely going to High River (via Langdon as per the officer we spoke to) but my husband took the photo at Cross Iron Mills.

Are you suggesting that he didn't take the picture? Because it certainly can be proven that he did...

What's the status on Deerfoot at the moment? I'm coming up from Lethbridge tomorrow morning for an 11:30 flight and am trying to figure out how early I should leave.

I am not suggesting anything. I saw it, noticed the FB picture didn't have the watermark (correct term I hope) in the bottom left hand corner. I thought it odd, that credit wouldn't have been given. I have no beef against you or your husband.

South Saskatchewan River approaching 5,000 m3/s and 9 meters, up 6 meters from Wednesday. Those numbers make the Elbow look like a backyard creek. Medicine Hat will be devestated.

Sorry my comment came off worse than I meant - we've had a lot of people claiming that he didn't take it so I'm a bit on edge about it.

One version of the picture got out without a watermark - the first version posted on twitter because he didn't think it would go as fast as it did. So now we're trying to find all the copies of it that we can and get a photo credit. But some are going to get out without it unfortunately. Thanks for bringing it up though!

The ice surface is below ground level by about 10 feet I believe. As are the dressing rooms and bar.

Geez that's high especially when it's not supposed to crest until 3am.

Seen any good photos of the river itself at that high level? Most online coverage is still just flooding buildings and not the river itself.

The S. Sask is to the Bow, what the Elbow is to the Bow. (aka 4 times as much volume)
