I'd like to say US doesn't matter as much for a California born kid who then moved to Michigan to play hockey and subsequently chose OHL over USHL, and whose brother plays in Canada. But who knows now? Tkachuk played mostly USHL but did have one season in OHL and his brother is Canada-committed. And he still flew the coop. Though I'm not sure he is about more than $$ and maybe the loss of his feeding winger.
