Pretty fun episode this week, nothing Earth-shattering but I think they did a pretty good job of balancing out the storylines and we got to learn more about Tendy.
I do wonder how they're planning on working in this 'small ship' at the beginning though, this seems like a setup for a more extreme problem.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
But now that I think of it- is this what the actors are striking about? Is this paramount using AI or other to bring our favourite character voices to the new age? Or did they actually bring these actors back?

Oddly on the 'Short Treks' I'd noticed that they had been doing 'credits' at the end but this one doesnt have that.
Digitally recreating an Actor's voice so you dont have to pay them is decidedly dirty pool.

I feel like if they were going to just AI voices in they might have done more broad a base (notably subbed tucker in for archer, presumably because bakula don't f with this anymore.) But, indeterminate. It does seem strange they're not credited and as soon as I was getting elated about the random throwback cameos I got nervous remembering why the star trek actors (notably, Sulu- Takei, whose voice was in this video) are striking about their voices/ image being reproduced by the studio without direct involvement.
That episode was a bit weird and felt like its been done before, I won't class it as a lazy bit of story telling, but as the fat guy on the Simpsons said when he figured out that they were just repeating storylines "Hey I'm watching you".

It was alright. Its not up on my list of favourite episodes, but I've found that with the occasional exception of Ransom, the Doctor and Shax, when Lower Decks start involving the Bridge Crew it loses its edge.
Especially the Captain who is easily, easily the least interesting character on the entire show.

If I had a complaint about this show is that they started with this great concept. The Bridge Officers were somewhat incompetent and snobs and jerks who looked down on the Lower decks guy.
I think in the first episode the Lower decks crew solved the problem and saved the day, then you hear the Captains log "With the heroic and brilliant actions of my bridge crew, we saved the day".
When they started humanizing the bridge officers, and made them become friends and mentors to the Lower crew cast, the show lost a bit of its really cynical look at the Star Trek universe.
I wish they would have continued it a little longer, where the Bridge Crew literally doesn't see the Lower deck people as anything but janitors and manual labor.

personally I am enjoying the character development, and really feel as though they're backing this puppy into "full trek flagship" rather than "animated joke ridden show to make light of dark nutrek". Which I support fully.
But I understand your point, and agree that was a fun dynamic to explore. It was even more fun in that episode with the Klingon and Vulcan crews where they showed the lower decks getting equally mistreated across all ships. We also got a pseudo version of this same dynamic when Capt. Mariner goes to the admiral meetings in like S3... she is similarly dismissed as essentially a lower decker to the admiral table.
Shaxx is a great character. The captain and Ransom are weak (should have left ransom fully in the ###### canoe role).

It would be great if they continously juxtaposed the senior officers having a fancy schmancy typical conference room meeting saying how they will use all this technobabble to solve a problem in 3 hours and the captain says "very well, Make it So!", then the lower decks guys are like "WTF how are we supposed to reverse the flow of tachyon transducers while running a level 99 full ship diagnostic while the nacelles are being swapped?". Then they work double shifts while the bridge crew is all soundly sleeping or partying in 10-Forward.
