There's rumblings the January game will be in Toronto, not Vancouver. Doesn't make sense to me at all why they would do that, outside of easier travel in for the players.
I wonder if CSA is sticking it to Vancouver for not putting themselves forward to host a WC match.
Why in God's Name did you spend $600 million on a new roof if you ain't going to host events like that? There is literally nothing bigger than the WC.
The only thing they had right was Edmonton transit shuttles. We were staying in the south end of the city and they had shuttles from Millwoods shopping mall (and 4 or 5 other spots).
Shuttle was $6 return, kids 12 and under free.
Took 45 mins to get there and then only 25 back (I think it was the same route).
Say what you want about Deerfoot but Edmonton has no decent north south route inside the city, so we were going on Elbow drive equivalent streets most of the way. And Edmonton has the most traffic lights per capita.
Anyways, saved the nightmare of parking or the jammed trains.
Again, that venue needs huge upgrades to host a WC. I wonder if the issue with not doing Vancouver is that they aren't in the running for WC games. But no question, it would be the best venue to watch a 50k attendee soccer match in this country by a long shot.
With the terrible weather, driving and otherwise, a Tuesday, and thus not a lot of fans from Calgary that would've made a Friday trip up there, I'm expecting 25-30k at most.
I thought there might a drop off for the reasons you state above but close to 50,000 tickets have been sold. I'd be surprised if actual attendance isn't within a few thousand of that number.
Reading through the Mexican team’s Instagram comments with my high school Spanish, they seem more concerned with firing their manager than the weather outside…but I guess that makes sense based on the fact they won’t be watching in the cold…
Some concern/worry of their backend being manhandled by Buchanan and Davies.

They should feel privileged to be man handled by Buchanan and Davies.
Saw this rumour going around. Heard Canada Soccer booked up all the domes in Edmonton last night and gave them to youth teams.
Canada have turned up their CONCACAF shenanigans this past year and I am living for it. We might as well lean into the silly stuff if other countries and teams are doing the same. It's just playing fair.
Are they going to clear the field or put more snow on it? Edmonton in November always seemed trying to be a little too clever, especially for a more skilled Canadian team. Hopefully they can at least get a point and no one gets hurt.
Field conditions could be scary. Tarp will be removed later today and hopefully doesn’t get wet or frozen but.. looking back to Grey Cup 2018, the turf was clear but super slick. It negatively affected the play.
