Even though I'm not in Ward 11, I got a pamphlet from James Maxim today that covers only the SW Ring Road, and it was a very good read. He took a very realistic approach towards the problem, and seems to know exactly how people would react to things. I really enjoyed reading it, and it's available on his website..

It's a long article, but I highly recommend reading it if you have any interest in the future of the SW Ring Road. I think it's the best position on it that I've read of any candidate so far, including mayoral.

Even the Sun like Nenshi. He seems to appeal to people from across the political spectrum.

By my count that's at least three pro-Nenshi (or at least Nenshi-friendly) pieces by the Sun in the last week, all by different writers. Despite McIver getting a big front-page feature for a fluff piece of his platform, when it comes to actually writing about issues I think the Sun is doing a decent job, arguably more balanced than the Herald. That's something I never thought I'd say.

Yeah, it certainly seems his meeting with The Sun helped, and he actually impressed them. They seemed quite taken with Burrows' plans too, and Rick Bell is never impressed by anything.

Do newspaper editorial boards still come out and officially endorse candidates? I seem to recall them doing that in the past, but I'm not sure if that's still standard practice.

I'm all for McIver.
He's a Loc (gangster vernacular for veteran) and I think he knows how to fix things.

I'm sure McIvor is ecstatic at the thought of dominating the gangster vote.

I agree that McIver is a Loc. From the Urban Dictionary:
LOC
A term used for a cocky guy with a small penis that disses all his friends, is really self centered, and disrespectful to girls.
A: Do you know that guy?
B: Yeah, he's a total LOC, he's a real .

The majority of the comments are in favour of Nenshi as well. Read one comment from a former McIver supporter who is now voting Nenshi.

EPCOR doesn't own the generation assets, though, do they? The way I understand it, Capital Power is publicly traded and includes all of the generation assets.
The City of Edmonton still owns all the distribution and transmission assets, as well as all the water treatment and distribution assets.
I still don't understand how EPCOR's strategy of selling off Capital Power will work for them, though. They've basically hinged all of their growth potential on the price of a stock that they don't control. Sounds pretty risky to me.

Higgins and Hawkesworth just lost my vote. Signing a petition for no ring road on 37th. Instead we should reopen talks with the reserve. You mean pay 250 million in tax payer money for reserve land instead? No thanks. They already said no.
Hawkesworth with the brilliant plan to have us use the Deerfoot as part of the SW ring road. Last I remember the Deerfoot was in the SE. Can anybody get this guy a map of the city?
So now looking into other candidates. Time to look up Nenshi. He seems reasonable.

A candidate has 24 hours to withdraw and have his/her name removed from the ballot.
Not sure why Nensi dominates these polls but is an underdog in this election. He's gaining ground in general polls and should be interesting.

Nenshi is also against going up 37th.
From his blog:
“Building the South West section of the Ring Road through the Weaselhead and up the 37th Street alignment is a mistake,” says Nenshi. “It is too expensive, impacts too many homes and doesn’t solve the real transportation issue of the Calgary South West: getting Calgarians downtown.”

^^^McIvor it is then.
So Nenshi is also out of touch with what's happening in the SW?
Getting downtown isn't the only problem. I don't make money when I'm stuck in traffic travelling between the deep SW and the NW.
Rocky View paramedics have higher response times because of the 14th Street backlog.
One accident in the SW backs everything up on other arteries.
