Yeah. Multiple times I played with a friend online and one of us was clearly ahead of the puck carrier and no offsides.

Isn't it the back skate that has to be clearly past the line in order to call in off-side? Maybe they've changed to that finally (Before IIRC it was always either skate).

Any of mine in question, the puck went back over the blue when the CPU was in the offensive zone.

If there's one rule that isn't called that drives me insane it's when you knock free or break the stick of an opponent and get no call for it.

Odd. Hasn't happened to me yet. I'll check for that though.

As a dman, I love that.

So far I've had no problem standing in front of the net and lining up a great stick lift.

It's the new bodycheck in front.

I made a great play that I scored off but I don't have the highlight for.

I was on the PK in be a pro as a dman, computer is working it around the point, looking for the point shot. They get the first one, tip, save, rebound and retain possession. As the computer cycles it again, I trade spots in front of the net with CPU dman, stick lift Lucic in front of the net. His stick breaks, so on the PP he has to go all the way to the front of the net to his own bench during the long line change of the second period. The shot comes in as he leaves the front, I grab the puck for the quick lead pass to Okposo who is playing tight point. Okposo receives the pass, hustles by chara on the point goes in all alone, great deke, goal.

Just now as I finished typing this, the computer stick lifted the opposition dman on his side of the neutral zone, defender momentarily lost his stick and went to pick it up which gave us the opportunity to come in on a 4-1 (as I was cruising through the neutral zone looking for the big hipper), great passing play for a nice Tavares goal.

Sure, it isn't always realistic in the lack of call, but it's still a game and stuff like that is fun to do. Like going for the dive across the ice.

Had a lame glitch yesterday...I was playing my buddy offline and somehow the puck went through the back of the net and it was counted as a goal.

Have only played 1 day, but not overly impressed so far. Seems like the same old thing, where once you've figured out the 2-3 ways of cheep goals you just keep repeating them.

I guess it's hard to avoid that with hockey games, but to a casual gamer like me who doesn't want to play 10 hours a day and master the cheep "methods" I don't find it makes for a realistic hockey experience. Watching the same 2-3 types of goals make for 90% of the goals gets boring fast.

Great game. I like the pace and flow of it. Seems more methodical and balanced. A lot more randomness in the game since the last one I played (NHL09). The game pretty much gives you all the tools needed to defend against your opponents. EA has done a great job.

I still think the goaltending could use some more variation, and some of the presentation could be overhauled from year to year to at least give the game a different feel.

But all in all, enjoying it so far.

Offline gaming on sports titles will be dead in a few years. These are just the first sickly signs of a dying era. The era of the casual gamer has already died.
They really screwed the pooch on Be a GM mode.

Seriously within about 10 minutes of playing the errors became frighteningly obvious. This should have been addressed in the testing phase.

All unsigned picks from every team are just dumped right into the FA pool? Awesome.
No warnings when you're about to lose an unsigned draft pick to free agency? Great.
A free entry draft to start the game, which usually just puts you over the limit for contacts? Sure thing.

EA really released a half baked mode for this one.

Does anyone know how to prevent the computer from automatically pulling my goalie in games against the computer when I'm trailing late?

I ended up lucking out and getting a Flames white jersey on my first card pack in HUT. I wasn't too happy though when I was up 1-0 on Finland with about five minutes left only to have my connection disconnect and forfeit the game.

This one screwed me up real bad.

Also, RFAs are kinda poorly done. I offered Setoguchi 2 million for 4 years and he accepted...and SJ didn't match.

If you play the Be a Pro mode, does your player's attributes increase throughout his career naturally? Or is the only way for ones attributes to increase, is by editing them yourself with the points (or whatever they're called), or through buying of packs?

I’m becoming more and more impressed with the feel of the skating this year. Last year I felt that skating off-speed could be useful in certain situations, but this year, I think they nailed it. You can use speed, starting and stopping, acceleration, and turning to really twist, turn, and jink around to avoid defenders. If you can jink and force a hulking Dman to stop dead in his tracks trying to reverse his direction on you, you will have enough momentum to go around him quite often.

You can also screw up and get levelled with a cross-check to the chest sometimes, but that’s part of the experience too.

i do agree about the skating. but the gliding, thats awful. you can take 1 or 2 strides and make it to the other end of the ice. you can dive and slide half way down the ice. its awful.

I'm getting destroyed as well. My defensive game is simply average and I have a tough time gaining the zone against stronger opponents.

However, I did figure out a surefire method of scoring when I'm in alone - it isn't about how many dekes your character can dish out when battling the goalie one on one.

2 attempts at a HUT game and two disconnects. I'm done with it if it happens again. Is there a way to fix it?

I've noticed a combination of waiting for the shot (then grabbing the rebound) and crash and bang works defensively...or it could be just me.
