No, it was their mid-season finale. They do the 7 episode run, take a break and finish off the season with another 7 episode run.
They are definitely signed on for one more season as well. So there should be AT LEAST 21 more episodes of South Park to come.
I'm aware of the contract issue and the mid-season break, but this last episode certainly did seem like a finale. Maybe that was the joke though. Poking fun at other shows and their melo-drama during their finales.
I would not be surprised if Matt and Trey just concluded the show in that episode. Even if they are contractually obligated to finish the season what is to stop them from making 7 more episodes about Mohammad that Comedy Central couldn't air?
When you watch that episode again in the context of it being a series finale I think it is damn near perfect.
Maybe they're opening up the door for Randy to get up to some seriously crazy antics as a fresh bachelor.
I think that having Randy as a bachelor could be great for the show, he's one of the bes characters. However, in order to continue with the show, in the way it was before, they'd have to ignore all the stuff with Stan and the stuff with Kyle and Cartman.
It's also posssible they turn the show into more of a story driven drama just to piss of Comedy Central.
The part with Randy on the couch was typical gold though.

not sure if anyone watched Matt and Trey's interview on the Daily Show, but they admitted that this episode was just them having fun and screwing around as normal. they still love making the show and have no intentions of stopping anytime soon. they weren't too sure how the events of that episode would play out once the season resumes however, which should be interesting
South Park is my favourite show, this season sadly has been greatly affected by the writers' work on their Broadway show. The only episode I remotely enjoyed was the humancentipad one but even then Cartman's lines began to be too monotonous and repetitive thus lessening their impact. Finally, what has happened to Cartman's voice this season? :S

Really, I thought this season was pretty good. Especially loved the Canadian royalty one with Mr. Mackie's screaming about tooth decay.

Sadly it just hasn't done it for me so far (maybe I've turned into Stan! ) There hasnt been enough 'classic Cartman' really and some of the episodes have been awful (Funnybot wasn't funny). I must admit though that the Canadian royalty one had a few good moments, the way Mackie directed Kyle cracked me up!

Really? I found that episode to be the worst of the season. I doubt them writing there Broadway Show really effected this season because they wrote the broadway show over a year and a half ago.
T.M.I, City Sushi, Tooth Decay and Crackbaby Basketball have all been pretty decent. No better or worse than the last few seasons
So the new season has aired 5 episodes so far (2 more to go before the break) and I've thought they've been relatively good. The last episode, Bullying, was hilarious particularly because of the last song in the episode which is my second favorite South Park song now (Kanye's Fish Stick Song is my fav.)
I've been re-watching a lot of episodes the past week and I got to say some of the previous seasons had some really good episodes in them. History Channel Thanksgiving was awesome, "Curses and Cranberries!!", It's a Jersey Thing, Creme Fraiche (best episode in along time).

Medicinal Fried Chicken is my favorite in years.

Don't forget City Sushi. That was a great episode and probably my favorite episode.
