Great episode tonight. Not much to say yet, but they are certainly tying the flash sideways together with the current island life.

Desmond episodes are always great,
"See you in another life, brotha" has an all new meaning now.

I posted this earlier.
Quote:
I think that the bomb exploding was a quantum event that created a new multiverse that is unnatural. It is a separate universe that is looped off of the normal timeline at the point that the bomb went off in 1977 and the people in this loop were imprinted with their island experiences. They have no actual history pre-1977. this is why jack couldn't remember having his appendix out.
The theory of the multiverse is that yes a universe exists for every possible outcome of a decision but there is a preferred path and it will course correct. Because this universe is unnatural and was created by a quantum event, something will happen to course correct and the two universes will merge.
|
Looks like it might be true and the universe where the island was destroyed is not meant to exist.
When Desmond shook Penny's hand (his constant) did the two Desmond's switch places or do they both now know what's going on? That's why he's looking for the manifest?

Good theory Barnes. I was a bit more taken back by Desmond and Penny sharing the "have we met before?" line that Jack and Desmond shared in the exact same place. The Dark Tower comparisons some of you have made are certainly seeming to be truer and truer. Also take into account Jacobs comments earlier in the season during his conversation with the man in black. "Everything else is progress" in response to the fact that it always ends the same way.

Wow. Cameos aplenty last night.
Payroll for the cast on this show must be absurd.

haha I was thinking about that
someone like Matthew Fox is probly the highest paid guy on the cast, and they get paid for every episode they appear in
he was in last nights for like 25 seconds

One of the best shows of the whole series. It looks like they are all connected by love.Anyone else think Eloise has the same time travelling powers as Desmond and Widmore is her constant.

I got the impression that Eloise and Widmore don't see each other in the original timeline. She lives in LA, he lives in London. When they did see each other it was a fairly hostile meeting, they weren't happy to be around each other.

Having Desmond meet up with Penny at the stadium was a great scene. I wonder if it's just attention to detail in reference to the classic Jack/Des scene or they really have been planning this all along. I'm have to re-watch the old Desmond episodes going back to S2.

So i take it Desmond not only has the ability to time travel, but he can also travel sideways to alternate timelines?
Good episode. Demond's character is awesome. The last two eps have been great, hopefully they keep getting better.

Yup, dude's unhinged in all directions.
It remains to be seen though if Widmore knows about the alternate timeline. I'm not even sure it's an alternate timeline, or if it's a "fantasy" timeline, considering all the clues they keep giving out about that.

Because in the original timeline their son died (Faraday)? isn't that why they had tension
I do think Eloise knows something though, her little speech to desmond at the reception seemed to signify that

Producers have mentioned in at least one interview that I've seen that the "flashsideways" timeline is just as viable as the "original" timeline - and that they are not necessarily exclusive.

Eloise created the alternate timeline.
http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Eloise
She pursuades her son (Daniel) to persue his scientific training so that he can instruct the Losties to use the bomb and create the alternate time line.
She also ensures that the Oceanic 6 return to the island.
Her motives are the question? Does she do all this to prevent her son from dieing? Wouldn't it be easier just to ensure he doesn't go to the island in the first place?
Based on what she said in this weeks episode, her interest in the new timeline is greater. Or at the very least the new timeline fulfills a purpose as part of some greater scheme.

Yeah i would agree with this otherwise it makes the whole idea of Desmond going from the 'real' timeline to the 'fantasy' timeline a bit bizarre.

I just noticed you guys are talking about the Dark Tower for some reason. I have a nagging feeling the end of the Dark Tower series is going to be a let down, like the end of Lost feels like it might be a let down and rushed or leave too much unanswered.
I know Stephen King finished the series on a tear after his accident because he was worried he might die before completing what was was his life's longest opus. I read the first 4 books back in my youth and enjoyed them but my memory is hazy. Should I read the rest?
