Made me slightly gassy....
I will test a more hardcore high fiber cereal next week.......

The Fiber 1 Honey Clusters is great. I disagree on the "slightly" part in your one comment though. Pretty much turned me into a foghorn.

Is it just me or is belly fat the first to appear?

To be honest, I downplayed the gas thing a bit too. Luckily for me, there is an older woman in my office who claims she has no sense of smell...well lets just say I made many visits to her office to let out the SBD's.....and she certainly cannot smell.........

Sorry, I missed this.
I have not used it yet. I went to check a couple of local sports stores a few months ago and they did not carry it. I need to find some as I have read that it will often add 25 - 30 lbs to your deadlift. I'd imagine that is very specific to the individual though.

Yup, and when you get to ~10% body fat for guys, most likely you will have to really watch your diet to get below that, unless you are naturally lean.

Why exercise won't make you thin.
"In general, for weight loss, exercise is pretty useless," says Eric Ravussin, chair in diabetes and metabolism at Louisiana State University and a prominent exercise researcher.

Maybe exercise won't make me thin but I know a lack of exercise certainly makes me fat!!!

I don't think I can put too much stock in that article. Honestly, the argument that excercising makes you want to eat more might be true, but I haven't had that for the past 3 weeks or so that I've been trying to lose weight, and I'm gettin some results. Mind you, I changed the way I eat pretty drasticly.

Personally, when I was swimming a great deal, I was ravenous. There wasn't enough food ever to shovel down fast enough after swimming a hard mile.
However, running is a rather fantastic appetite suppressent . . . . . I have to force myself to eat after a longer run. The longer the run, the lower the appetite.
Maybe it is dependent on what you're doing or the environment.

Isn't that article kind of pointing out the obvious? I thought everyone was pretty well aware that half of cardio you just did doesn't justify a trip to the Old Country Buffet on the way home from the gym. I've upped my caloric intake a bit since I've started going back to the gym, but I've gone from between 1500-1600/day to 1800-2000/day, which is still running a deficiency.

Have any of you heard that commerical (tv and radio) about some stupid metabolism treatment? Their tagline annoys me to no end ".. And remember, its not your fault, its your metabolism" arggg people need to start taking responsibility for their weight.
And another story, this guy who at work, was super obeese went on this Vitamin diet, where he gest injections of B Vitamins monthly (costs like $600/month i thought I heard, could be wrong)... and is on a VLC diet. Very low calorie diet. He eats 800cals a day, total. No sh*t you are loosing weight you are starving yourself. Good luck when you get off that diet!
/Rant off. hahaha

Well it isn't good for you in large doses but it doesn't make you fat. You hold water so you seem bigger than normal with less salt in your diet.

I'm happy with myself now.....one week out of my summer vacation and I'm slowly getting back into top shape.
Less cookies, more salad, less CP, and more activity!

no, long distance cycling is the same. Especially when you're really getting up there in time and distance. After 7 hours in the saddle last summer, it was everything I could do just to choke down a small sandwich to keep my body fueled.

I would rather not spend money on a gym unless it's imperative. Is cardio/situps/pushups enough to get in shape? Can anyone recommend a solid workout regimen?

What do you guys do about protein powder? That stuff is vile. I bought a new container of it today from Costco because I'm a sucker and I thought I'd be able to stomach the taste, but I just can't. I hate the flavour, and I hate the little chunks that never get dissolved properly. Gross.
