Putting aside the circus that was his life, I wonder about MJ's "musical" legacy. He was not really a musician (though I understand he used a piano to compose songs with others). As far as I know he did not play any musical instruments on stage. Great singer, great dancer.
I think he was a video star - not a musical genius. I would say he only made two great albums as a solo artist - Off The Wall and Thriller. Not exactly a big catalogue. Also, much of his music was composed with collaborators. All his records after Thriller were relative flops.

Jackson had precisely no talent before he died. He couldn't sing and he could barely dance. He was going to be on stage for exactly 13 minutes per show and the entire vocals were to be lip synched. Shows like this are a mirage. The kids don't need talent in order to be exploited.

So a persons life should be measured just before they died? I agree with you talent wise though. He was done.

he wrote a lot of his songs though. You might have a point with instruments, but he wrote a lot. He paid out of his own pocket to make a lot of Thriller.
He was a pioneer like Nirvana.
That's my point. He invented the military dance or was the first to do it. His sister asked him and used it first (Janet Jackson).

Nirvana is just famous because Kurt Cobain blew his head off. I think Nirvana was being brutally outshone by other innovators, like Pearl Jam, before Cobain died.

Really?
See, unlike others, I respect your opinion.
I think Nirvana started the Grunge thing outta Seattle. I consider him a Pioneer.

When someone is that deep in debt and not meeting their obligations they're pretty much conning the system.
When someone is that deep in debt and giving a ton of money to childrens charities it sounds like they're trying to buy absolution.

I don't get the PJ and Nirvana comparisons, the only real tie I see is Seattle. Nirvana had a way harder edge with way more punk and metal styled sounds mixed in. PJ was always closer tied to folk type sounds than it was to the harder stuff. I guess there's some cross over in the middle, but to me it's 2 bands coming from really different places.
Cobain's death is definitely a big part of the legacy, but it almost seemed inevitable from the start. It was a band built to end just as quickly as it exploded.

basically, you have no trust in the justice system? What position do you have to make that judgment?

Has nothing to do with the justice system at all.

Don't really follow the tabloid media.
Call me jaded, but when someone thats that deep in debt is pumping tons of money into childrens charity, he's trying to salve a guilty soul.

Well, that's your opinion though. At least you have one and can say it in an adult manner.
We disagree.

I'm making light of the situation, no need to scowl from your throne.

Making light of the situation at the expense of a group of people. I volunteer with that organization and I know they don't appreciate the insults they recieve on an almost daily basis.
