Agree completely. The worst thing that Walt ever did was convince Jesse to kill Gail. Poisoning Brock may have been shocking, but, unless I am mistaken, Lily of the Valley is not even supposed to be fatal.

Well whether it is in real life or not, the way they played it in the show was that he almost died. It wasn't really a 'sick day', he nearly perished.

I think it was more a case of them not knowing what was going on and it was something more than a common "barfy kid" situation.
Lilly of the Valley is pretty poisonous; however, it is also used in traditional native medicine and by herbalists for it's medicinal value. There are "safe" amounts you can give someone that still might make them pretty sick, but not put them in real danger. Lily of the Valley is common enough that Walt wasn't taking too big of a risk.
I'm sure Walt with a chemistry background, would be able to judge the child's body weight and figure out the perfect amount to administer that would make him sick enough to cause alarm, but not so sick as to seriously harm him. I'm thinking that was why Walt visited Jesse the night before... to size the kid up.

Well there was a look of real relief on Walt's face when Jesse told him Brock would be ok. I thought the way they were playing up the hospital scenes indicated he was in real danger. The amount of care he was getting, the confusion, all the doctors, etc.

Just a little example of the awesome level of craftsmanship of this show that I noticed rewatching the early episodes.
The first spoiler contains a few seconds from the closing scenes of season 4.
The second spoiler contains a few seconds from the opening scenes of season 2.

Kinda hate how they did that with Gus.
I know the show is bordering on unrealistic already, but to me that was unnecessary. I know people were complaining about the magnet in the last episode being unrealistic, but how do you explain this?
I mean, it's cool I suppose, but even if that didn't kill you immediately (which it would), the pain would force you unconscious anyway.
But I guess that's what makes this show what it is. Just me being cynical.

Yeah, but of course he would act surprised. If he didn't, it would look suspicious.
He also looked surprised when Hank told him about the industrial laundry.

It was quite over the top, but I disagree about it being what makes this show what it is. I think it was pretty uncharacteristic of the show to have something *that* unrealistic.

All I remember thinking when Gus walked out of the room was: "How the #### did he possibly...", then he turns.

That scene was freaking fantastic and just because it might be unrealistic doesn't change anything about the plot. If we had just seen Gus's lifeless body after the explosion instead the story would be the same. But it symbolized how tough Gus was and what an accomplishment it was for Walt to kill him.

I dunno, that looked a little different to me.
Could be something or could be either one of us seeing the things we want to see in the given situation.

Actually the thing that bugged me about that scene was a little continuity error. I'll get to in a moment.
First I do agree it was a bit of a cheat, but when I saw the full thing, I thought it was so cool I didn't care.
Ok the error. Gus is missing the wrong side of his face!
The bell, and the bomb are on the right side of the chair. And Gus' face is wounded on the right side.
However, obviously if he is facing Salamanca, their rights are on opposite sides!
So the hole should have been on the left side of his face. I suspect it was because of set limitations, they could only shoot it from one side.

Also, who's to say it wasn't that realistic?
I'm sure more than a couple posters on here are EMS and/or saw time in the millitary.
I've had stories recounted to me that I am inclined to believe of soldiers doing alarming things following accidents on the mortar range, for example.
Shock is amazing.

Well, he does make a move to get up and turn prior to the explosion.

They show him get up. They don't show him turn. But yeah it's a small thing, maybe he's already on the way to the door. Just with the way the scene was shot, you don't imagine there being anytime between the NOOOOO!!! and the BOOM!

FWIW, the bomb's right in the middle of the chair. You can see it secured right between the cross braces

True enough, though that's not exactly what I meant, and I do have a very serious just not visible handicap.
