Chacin and Halladay are on the DL, starters are Burnett, Marcum, McGowan and Litsche. If Okha is a RP there is only 4 starters at this time.

I think the Jays only skipped Ohka since they have a day off today. It was Ohka's turn to go on Sunday, but they're going to go with Litsch on his normal rest time instead.

I don't know how long the Jays can keep Litsch up without taking up an option year, but him replacing Ohka's spot on Sunday might have something to do with that.

McGowan is having a great outing so far, no hits and four strikeouts through three innings. Most have soured on this kid but I still think he can develop into a very good major league starter. He has an absolutely electric arm and he has ace potential if he could ever develop a little more command.

Unfortunately no. I'm just following along at MLB.com as I have nothing better to do and I'm a big McGowan fan.

Alas, McGowan's lack of control comes back to haunt him - two walks and a single, bases loaded with no outs. McGowan has only given up one hit so far tonight thorugh 5 innings but the walks will be what ends up killing him (as usual).

And the afformentioned disaster strikes. McGowan walked the bloody pitcher Lieber to let in a run and now has given up back-to-back singles making it 3-0 Philly. Add in a wild pitch and it's 4-0.

The kid is absolutely dynamite when he's throwing strikes but he walks one or two batters and he completely loses it mentally.

The D-backs have claimed Jays infielder Jason Smith off waivers.

Meh.

He had a great spring training, but couldn't do anything during the regular season. Low average, OBP, no pop, and he struck out around 45% of the time.

No huge loss - a guy like Roberts provides the exact same thing with a little more potential (probably).

kinda tough to get on a roll in limited action.

anyways, big win for the jays in game 2 vs. the phils, and for at least one game bats were back.

Well, Matt Stairs doesn't seem to be having much of a problem (in two more at-bats).

It wasn't even the fact that he wasn't hitting - it's the fact that Smith struck out 24 times in 56 at-bats while drawing only 3 walks. Hitting can be streaky, but the guy couldn't work a count to save his life. From a bench player that's unacceptable.

who else is ready to see Matt Stairs take Thomas' spot as DH? I sure am. The Big Hurt has been the Big Joke this year. Time to have someone in the lineup who looks like they want to be there.

I think it took Thomas sometime last season with the As to get his stroke going too. I'm not a huge fan of the signing but I'm not ready to give up on him by any stretch.

Thomas will be fine, just needs more time.

For someone who's not a huge fan of JP's, the Hillenbrand for Accardo deal sure looks like a steal now. One can only think what a healthy Brandon League and BJ Ryan what this bullpen could be

I'm finally going to see the Jays live in Seattle next month! I get to see the Red Sox on the Wednesday and the Jays on Friday. Can't wait!
