When it comes to the shootout you use the players you think have the best chance to score in the shootout. If you have a player who is on a heater you keep using him until he cools off.
No!
We must use the player who has a larger sample size, that way you know what you're getting.
If you let Kirkland keep shooting just because he's been hot you're taking a big risk. I mean what happens if he cools off and it turns out he's as bad at shootouts as Kadri?

Where do they imagine that this magical trade is going to come from?
Their best young assets were McLeod and Holloway. Holloway put up 63 points last year, after the Oilers had refused to match a $2.29 million offer sheet. McLeod, who had 53 points was traded for a magic bean that hasn't worked out yet.
The Oilers have one of the worst set of prospects in the league and are one of the oldest teams out there. Who is trading them a #1 goalie that's better and more proven than Skinner?
You don’t think Kadri would score more in 100
attempts than Kirkland? I’d take that bet all day.
Are you stating that if Kadri got another 61 attempts and Kirkland got another 96 attempts, bringing both to 100 attempts total, Kadri would end up with more successful attempts?
Kadri is elite at what he does, but he does not have the shootout skills that a lot of these young kids have. Shootout ability is also something that fades with age. You lose speed, release speed, reaction time, shot power, etc.. as you age.

Gridin is the first teenager to score the opening goal of the season for the Flames since 96/97, when that season's scoring was opened by some kid named Jarome Iginla.

I know this is a joke but...Ovechkin's best year was still in 2007/08, with 65 goals. When you adjust that figure to account for leaguewide goals per game, it's even more impressive.
Edit: Not only was Ovechkin getting more goals then, but he was a much better skater. He led the league in points and goals and was also somehow top 10 in hits. He's good now, but was a dominant player in those first few years.
He actually won the All-Star "Breakaway competition" in 2008, 2009, and 2011. Zero chance he would come close now.

Shootouts are still a strange one. Having seen 7 other players go in front of him maybe Kadri picked up on something that made him use the move he did to beat Skinner. Whereas if he's the first guy to shoot maybe he tries something else.
