Australia is Spanish for heartbreak.
I agree Zverev needs to go down BUT what about this scenario.....he defeats Djokovic, then gets up 2 sets to 0 in the final and then collapses yet again in epic fashion

Edit: Zverev wins the 2nd set tie-break 7-zip. I expect the German to run away with set 3 now.

Paul kind of blew those first two sets but credit to Zverev as there was a crazy game in the middle of the set with Paul up a break where the umpire missed a let on Paul's serve and a few points later called a let for a feather falling on the court and it seemed like everything was going Paul's way and somehow Zverev still pulled out the 2nd set.

Yeah, that was a crazy game for sure lol. The other thing I will say is that Tommy Paul is not going to win a grand slam with such an unreliable forehand. That stroke was atrocious last night.

I enjoy watching Paul play but to me he's a lot like de Minaur where I just don't see the top end weapons in their games to win a grand slam. At least Fritz has the serve and can hammer the ball on ground strokes with the best of them.

Agreed, Fritz has the weapons if things fall into place for him and he has a great day of serving. That's why I still hold out some hope for Felix as well, he has the serve and forehand to beat anybody on tour, it's just a matter of some draw luck and all things managing to line up for him. Also, if WADA does decide to impose a lengthy suspension to Jannik Sinner, that's one big obstacle removed.

Does WADA have any power over the ATP? Could they suspend Sinner from Wimbledon for example or only Olympics?

That's like wishing the Oilers to lose in Game 7, that's a risky proposition, one you don't want to gamble on too many times.

WADA has considerable power and can basically rule that Sinner is ineligible to compete in any professional tennis event for as long as the suspension is imposed.
What will happen to Sinner if WADA’s appeal is successful?
He will not be able to compete in a professional tennis event for up to two years, depriving him of the chance to earn millions of dollars in prize money. A suspension would likely do significant damage to his reputation. Sinner is 23, so he would have time to prosper after the suspension, but it’s hard to overestimate the damage that missing two prime years of his career would exact.

Absolutely. They are appealing to increase Sinner's ATP ban (currently at 0). Iga was suspended one month and WADA decided not to pursuing more. Using another example, in curling Brianne Harris was suspended for the Scotties, a Curling Canada event!
Are NHL players being drug tested now that they are back in the Olympics? Like if McDavid failed a test, could he be suspended for the Stanley Cup playoffs. Or is it hands-off? Are these collectively bargained? Maybe tennis players and curlers have no rights, as in they have no union.

Iga didn't get that ball (it was a double bounce) and it was right under the umpire's nose. No video replay apparently.

Bad call for sure right in front of the chair umpire. Fortunately the call likely didn't have a major outcome in the match.
Blake Shelton in another grand slam semi final. I know some fans don't like him because he's brash but I really think of all the american men, he's the guy with the weapons to win a grand slam. That said I think Sinner will take him to the woodshed. He just rolled over de Minaur who just doesn't have the tools to take down the best players.

Yeah, I feel for De Minaur, he's a heck of an athlete and could be the fastest guy on tour (right there with Charlie), but he doesn't have the big weapons that are so prominent in today's game. He can still make a great living playing tennis and hanging out with Katie Boulter which isn't too shabby.

Yeah I certainly don't shed a tear for the guy as he's making a good living and life appears to be pretty good for him right now. I think he's a good story about a player that's absolutely maxed his potential with the tools he's been given as opposed to guys like Kyrgios who are gifted with elite toolset but too lazy to ever fulfil their ultimate potential.

That said, there should be a video review for calls like that.

Alex might not have beat Sinner, but he certainly shut down this toxic tennis troll...

Shelton railing on the broadcasters - personally I think they do a pretty good job of not just being suits like a lot of other tournaments. With that you're going to get a few misses like the Novak issue and a few others in the past but at least people actually want to listen to the interviews in Melbourne.
Bringing race into what was a very light hearted comment about the oldest player on tour is just shameful though....is he searching for headlines?

Absolutely along with a rule change - I believe that the current rule states that the player needs to stop play if they think a double bounce occurred. A player should only have to stop if they hear an audible call.
