Bonk plays the bumper position on the PP in London, but Cameron has him QB'ing it. So many poor decisions!

That seems to be part of what is puzzling everyone. Even where he has people playing on the PP, they aren't playing the roles they typically do.

It's hard to understand what the approach is.

Canada has Akey, he’s the pinnacle of offence, that’s exactly who they need.

I would thoroughly love to know who exactly selected this team, and go through the list one by one and explain why. Then I’d like to hear why they held off at least 5+ top players who would be offensive threats which is what Canada is lacking.
Don't forget Gibson, who has 7 pts this season, and a combined 51 pts in his D+1 and D+2 seasons.

Akey+Gibson+Mynio combined as 19YOs: 69 games - 13G, 32A, 45P

Parekh last year as a 17 year old...........: 66 games - 33G, 63A, 96P

Lol

Unbelievable

Somebody should tweet that to Dave Cameron, Hockey Canada, and anyone else you can think of.

You would think the reigning CHL defenseman of the year, the best offensive D in the country, top-10 pick of a Canadian team, and reigning memorial cup champion who is having just as spectacular a season would have been automatic.

Reeks of overthinking/politics.

I was wondering about this.

Could it be that the 'committee' who makes the final choices is now actively working for the most bland team they can in an effort to further 'sanitize' Canadian hockey in light of the recent problems?

The bland idiots were the rapists.

Default UPD: Parekh cut from WJC camp

HC is too old school and worries about winning ‘the right way’, meaning a balanced roster with a fair portion of more defensive-minded players. Nice way to build a league team, but Canada can field a roster that can shred other teams in a short tournament, regardless of a potentially weaker defence.

It seems to me team Canada goes in cycles - at all levels.
They take the best players they win everybody’s happy until they forget talent also goes into cycles when they lose one.
Then they galaxy brain the whole thing and pick a bunch of zamuners and it takes a bit of losing before they go back to just picked the best damn players.

When did we have the summit that Canadian hockey was in crisis ?

Might not be a crisis, just midlife crisis of the people picking teams.

It is purely politics. It is now made even funnier because Canada can't set up a powerplay to save their lives... Partially because they left players like Parekh and Yakemchuk off the team.

These kids are absolutely allowed to mock this result. Canada is getting what it deserves. Cameron is getting what he deserves.

It's absolutely hilarious.
If Canada wins the tournament and allows a GAA of 1.00, people are going to say, "well these team Canada execs clearly wanted a defense first team and Parekh doesn't fit that because he's not as strong or poised defensively."

And whether Canada wins the tournament or not, I think it's fine for Parekh to be upset. It's fine to voice that you're disappointed in the decision and think you should have been on the team.

But there's mature and cerebral way to do it. You don't have to do it in a way that's disrespectful of those that are playing in the tourney or making those building the team. Liking posts of the opposition winning or reposting Phil Kessel quotes is funny, but it's also a dick move that doesnt makes you very many friends, suggests you have an bruised ego and emotional immaturity, makes you look like a bad teammate, and impacts your ability to make the team in 2025.

Did Parekh repost a Kessel quote?

I simply don't agree that liking an instagram post from Sportsnet is being disrespectful.

If liking that post is enough for Team Canada to cut him again next year, then I'm not so sure it's Parekh who is being immature.

That’s the vibe I get from Parekh. Immature. People pay attention to that stuff whether you like it or not. Hopefully he doesn’t learn the hard way down the line.

It would be cool to watch some Flames prospects in the tourney. But really the fact there aren’t any probably isn’t the end of the world. Hopefully it motivates them.

I hope Canada crushes the US and goes on to win the tourney. I’m sure they are very motivated to prove people wrong. But maybe they will lose out. In the end it’s teenagers playing hockey.

Feel bad for Parekh. Not sure why, but it’s pretty evident people are looking to take him down a peg and take shots at his character at any opportunity that even slightly presents itself. I could guess why, but it doesn’t matter. He’s going to have to burn off any personality and be a perfect angel to get any respect.

Again, when just about every hockey mind not on the team Canada selection committee is scratching their head and continuously questioning why Parekh, Sennecke and Misa are not on the team just about every day…. I think it’s safe to say he’s okay to like any sort of tweet regarding the absolute stupid political selection process.

If hockey Canada wants to take that and use it for more political gain next year then we could see significant backlash and hopefully a complete gutting of the senior officials for HC.
