Many moons ago I too made a choice to intervene when a friend of mine was sucker punched from behind by a guy who was drunk and punched his girlfriend when she told him no.

I quickly grabbed him and took him to the ground doing nothing more than restrain him hoping the bouncers would come step in. Unfortunately for me the next thing I know I’m being treated by paramedics for a large gash on the side of my head and eye brow.

One of the dip#### friends decided to smash me with a mason jar because he too was a tough guy apparently.

Many stitches and years later I’m scared to think how much worse it could have been these days now that everyone seems to carry weapons. But I couldn’t stand back and watch my close friend get jumped by a group of guys and end up regretting it.

Too many fake tough guys these days.

Bouncers don’t really give a crap anymore, you take your own life in you hands when you go out to these places with drunk idiots. Now I’m old enough to drink at home with friends and family or at a nice restaurant, them “club” days are over.

Appreciate the “stay out of it” crowd coming out. Was feeling like I was alone in empathizing with those who elected to not intervene a few pages back. I do admire anyone who has the courage to enthusiastically put themselves in danger for a friend or even a stranger, but I sure know what I would do.

Oh, I’m no hero - I wouldn’t be wading in. I’d be trying to cover up. Or stop it somehow. I have intervened before (and it was risky - knives are all over the place like people say).

And I’m not even saying it would be as the fight was progressing. I just couldn’t look at a guy being beaten to death. Which, for parts of this situation it looked like.
