I think Aydar Suniev would be wise going pro with the Wranglers and having Danielle Fujita spend time building up his skating.

Maine defeated Northeastern in double OT in the Hockey East semifinal on Thursday night. This means the winner of Hockey East will not have any impact on Penn State's chances of making the tournament.
They still need one of the ECAC or NCHC to fall in their favour to be assured they'll make it. That can happen Friday night if either Quinnipiac loses or both Western Michigan and Denver win. Otherwise, they'll need to wait until Saturday's results to find their fate.

I'd wait to see how many CHL players end up going to college next year before deciding to turn pro.

Both Western Michigan and Denver won their NCHC semifinals, so it's now guaranteed Penn State is in.

North Dakota's season is done. No more Cade Littler game updates.

UConn vs. Penn State is an interesting first round match-up.
Sergeev's old team vs. his new team. He should be motivated to win.

Have there been any rumours on if Suniev is going to play another year of college hockey or turn pro after this season?

The tournament bracket is set: https://www.ncaa.com/brackets/icehockey-men/d1/2025
- Suniev and UMass will travel to Fargo (you betcha) and play Minnesota on Thursday at 6:30pm MT (start time could be delayed if the earlier game runs long).
- Sergeev and Penn State are the host college for the regional in Allentown, so they will have a home crowd even though they're the bottom seed in their group. They will play Maine on Friday at 6:30pm MT (start time could be delayed if the earlier game runs long).
They need to win 2 games next weekend to make the Frozen Four. A loss will end their seasons and they could potentially sign with the Flames immediately after and join either the Flames or Wranglers to end the season (I suspect if they do sign, it would be to play with the Wranglers).
Both are eligible to return to college next season. Since it has been 4 years since Sergeev was drafted, he also has the option to announce he will be leaving college anytime after June 1 and become a UFA 30 days later.

Interesting wrinkle regarding Sergeev. Does he look at the Flames with a young, likely long-term starter and decide to try his luck elsewhere?

We have room for Wolf’s sidekick though. I think many clubs would have more obvious backups and development spots already filled compared to us.

Yeah, at this point, there isn't much in the Flames pipeline below Wolf. Currently, Wolf and Cooley are the only goalies under contract for next season in the entire organization.
No one is going to hand him an NHL starter's job, so there aren't likely any better chances for development next year than signing with the Flames and potentially being the Wranglers' starter.

I read somewhere that a coach described Suniev as the "most determined to make the NHL" player he's ever had.
Sounds like sooner than later, but what do I know.

heard an interview with UMass coach Greg Carvel. The interview was mainly about the NCAA tournament, but he highlighted a few of his players, including Suniev. Unprompted, he mentioned several players who were likely signing NHL contracts when the season is over, but Suniev was not mentioned. Take it for what it is worth

He mentioned other players by name or just a general “several players are likely to sign nhl contracts when the season is over”?

If I were the coach I'd be hopeful one of my best players was returning to the program for another year.
I doubt Suniev has decided yet. Chances are the flames are going to offer him an ATO to the Wranglers if there is still time in this season. He would almost be guaranteed starting in the AHL next season also. Perhaps another year in college would be more appealing in the short term in hopes you can make a jump straight to the NHL the following year. I'm hoping for the former, but worried about the latter. AHL development can be a tough sell for some guys.
