Noah Hanafin was not long for the Kings. After his acquisition, LA fell into a four game losing streak, and as we all know, correlation and causation always line up perfectly. Of course he had to go!

Hanifin to New Jersey for Dante Fabbro, Ville Koivunen and a 2025 2nd.

It's the second stint for Fabbro in LA. I've always liked the player, and am interested to see if he can find his game in Columbus. Koivunen is the best prospect (not named McGroarty) in the worst prospect base in the league, Pittsburgh. That doesn't mean that he will be a burn burner, but it does likely mean that he will be given every opportunity to stick in the NHL, possibly as soon as next season.

The Avs trade Bedard, Seguin, Veleno and 3rd in 26 to the Flames for Batherson, Lowry, 1st NYI 25, 1st Tor 26, 1st Van 26, Cowan and cheese.

This was a year in the making, the Flames made about 10 offers every month or 2 for a year! lol

I dunno. Bedard could be elite, but Seguin is on the downside and Veleno is a bottom 6 guy. Batherson is a good player in his own right, Cowan is a decent prospect, and if he can turn one of those 3 1sts into a very good player, he did great.

We have been after Bedard since before he was drafted. Big price to pay and it sucks losing 2 1sts that could potentially be lotto picks given how random the sim is.

However, to add Bedard to a new core with Celebrini and hopefully Parekh should set us up well for years ahead.

Will now likely look to move on from some of our prior core (Matthews, Makar) in the coming weeks.

offered to flip those 1sts, deal grew a bit from there. Wanted another 1st in that top half of the upcoming draft ... as it stands, that pick would be 11th overall, and I like quite a few guys in that range. Could bite me in the ass a bit if the Avs crash and burn next season, but I doubt that'll happen.

Wasn't going to re-sign Domi anyway. Yamamoto is just a warm body for the rest of the season, but I think Holmstrom will continue to improve so worth it, imo.
