I'm kinda in the dark on Demko's injury history, has he been struggling with injuries since pre-draft? I always thought his issues were in more recent years.

I hate that this is making their path easier. It just seems like the hockey gods have given that organization every chance to win a cup. So far the organizational ineptitude of the Oilers has proven to be a tough nut to crack but eventually even a blind mouse finds a piece of cheese every now and then. The draft lottery wins, soft regular season schedules, remarkable lack of major injuries to key players, soft opening round matchups annually, etc.

Well that sucks.

Pretty kills any hope of keeping Edmonton out of round 3.

Scary times.

He had hip surgery in his draft year. There were some concerns after that since he was quite young for already having hip problems.

Edit - This is an injury he's never had before so it sounds like this isn't knee or hip related. I'll say groin.

Vancouver were likely pretenders this year anyways. Sucks big time the Oilers get a 2 round cake walk though.

And all things aside if the Canucks do some how get through the Predators, DeSmith was 2 - 0 vs the Oilers this year.

come on be fair...you guys absolutely attacked him for saying Demko was an injury concern.

Even if its a "new" injury those are often caused by compensating for something else.

Other injuries, especially groin can still be the result of the original injury not being 100%. Basically over compensating or moving slightly differently becauue of the original injury.

They can get by Nashville with DeSmith so now you hope it is something he can get over in two weeks.

F****, I was actually pulling for the Canucks out of the West. They are the least annoying team playing in our Conference and the best chance to punt McDavid.

Welp, here's hoping DeSmith is ready to roll!!

Or alternatively making a hard side to side movement like he did on that save in game one if it is the groin. I have zero proof of what it is, I am just guessing since they're saying it's not an injury he's had before. It could be his shoulder or elbow for all I know.

I’m still not too worried. Even if the Oilers manage to McPP their way to round 3, I’m still confident that this hypothetical flukey run will end there.

And if not, any one of those top Eastern teams are just too deep and talented to beat. The Oilers won’t get even a sniff of the Cup.

DeSmith has played well against the oilers too. The oilers have been goalie'd in recent years in the playoffs.

So it's the same knee, but different injury.

The fact they don't re-seed after the first round has potentially paved the the way for the Oilers. Need Talbot to channel last years Bobrovsky or Demko needs to be a quick healer. This is a dark time line.
