Bradford though made more than half his earnings off the old rookie scale deal. Since Cousins rookie deal ended, with these new guarantees, he'll be north of $330 million made, despite never being elite. He and his agent are contract negotiation legends.

I'm just relieved it means the Falcons won't be drafting Jayden Daniels

Minshow to the Raiders. Bears are going to end up being forced to cut Fields

Vikings - division rival
Pats - draft
Titans - maybe
Broncos - bad fit, no money
Giants - sure why not
Who else needs a QB these days? That market feels like it is drying up with the quickness

First ever NIL trade, Fields back to Ohio State for $50 million.

If it gets real thin, a team like the Rams or Jets makes sense to me. Let him sit behind Stafford for 2 years.
But I guess teams dont like to create any sort of controversy

It's not really about controversy though, he's on the last year of his contract and you can't seriously commit to his fifth year option ($25 million or so) unless you plan on starting him. At this point the Bears might be best off keeping him into the season and then seeing who gets hurt and hoping to get some value then.

Yeah he’s gonna have to be cut, the bears will be lucky to get pennies on the dollar, or you let him be a lame duck starter in Chicago and get killed all year instead of Caleb. With the QB movement today it feels like maybe the Bears GM got a little too cute (assuming the plan is to trade Fields)
No one is paying him and taking that 5th year option to do anything but start

Maybe he and Zach Wilson can fight over a starting QB job in the CFL

I mean you consider how much money was laundered through earned by Taysom Hill, Fields should be able to squeeze out a decent NFL career as a gadget player.

Yeah, it took a little over five hours of "official" free agency, but I think enough potential suitors are off the market that I think the return for any trade of Fields would be low enough that they may just opt to hang onto him (his contract is fully guaranteed this year and his cap hit is the same whether he is on the roster or not). I don't think they would want to trade him in the division (MIN) and I don't know how the Broncos feel about needing an established starter with Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci already on the roster in a tank season.

On today's episode of why bad teams stay bad: In 2022 the Panthers passed on the Rams offer of two first round picks for Brian Burns, only to turn around and trade him today for a second and a fifth. Deeeeerrrrrrppppppp.

Why is Carolina even trading him ? They have nothing but cap room and a team no one wants to play for
