I like Big Z and respect him. Calgary doesn't really have anyone that can play a heavy game like him, so it would be a shame to lose him.
That said, his future contract demands probably doesn't align with Calgary's current roster talent.
Hopefully, Calgary wil find a good landing spot for him and get some young players in return.

Weird move by Zadorov. If he is traded to a place where he doesn’t have a good fit, he could hurt his value in free agency. He struggled fairly significantly when he came to the flames and ended up getting benched. He found his stride with the Flames but it may not necessarily translate in short order on a new team.

I'm not mad about this. I like Z, but I'm in the "sell high" camp for sure and he could have a pretty solid market. Hope Lindholm and Hanifin follow his example, I'd rather stock up on picks and prospects than commit long-term deals to this core.

Funny stuff
This team a few years ago had a promising core of Gaudreau, Monahan, Tkachuk, Lindholm, and also Bennett. Mostly drafted here except one guy. A young core, drafted and developed, and all who wanted to be here, and the org pretty much ####ed it all up
Zadorov seemed to want to be here too. Until whatever is going on now.
I have no issue with threads around people who want to be here and leave because they get jerked around here, give up on it, and find success elsewhere

Kinda crazy. With Conny coming out the gate saying he wants players that want to be here. Then he goes out and overextend on Lindholm and Hanifin. Because they dont want to be here.

Z was also team Sutter. He's said in Russian language interviews that Sutter was the coach that helped him the most.
He was also always in Calgary year-round a lot longer after other players had bolted as his kids were still in school. I would see them around town.

I agree it's bush league. Essentially a guy's agent passing out pamphlets to every contending team. Not sure that's helping Conroy, and not sure it signals to any one that you have value to them when you're resorting to desperate and impatient avenues independent of the team holding your rights.
I wouldn't want to be Zadorov addressing this with his teammates on the bus.
It will suck if it's a big distraction for them that shows up on the ice tomorrow.
