Good pick, I’ll take those guy’s opinions, I watch a lot of hockey both WHL and NHL and I have no clue who we should pick, be a fan and trust our management until they give you a reason not to.
?? This was Sam C's mock draft:

16. Calgary Flames: Samuel Honzek, C

If the board shakes down with this player still available, Craig Conroy may sprint to the stage.

He had Wood right before too. and Moore well later.

Oh, here it is, from May. I guess maybe there's a difference between ranking and mock draft

Clicked on some hilights and I see this big left shot guy below the face off circles on his off wing one timing them for goals wearing #29 and for a moment I thought by mistake they were showing Leon “pissy” hilights.

Sure, but Honzek was on a similar pace until his injury.

Have we come to a consensus on hating or liking this draft pick?

That doesn't stop some people though.

Not sure where one can find the primary points, but even strength points this guy was elite for WHL forwards. If you don’t count Bedard, the only guy who competes with him is Benson.

Even strength scoring

Benson 60 games played : 26 goals 43 assists 69 points
Yager 67 games played : 14 goals 24 assists 38 points
Honzek 43 games played : 17 goals 20 assists 37 points
Danielson 68 games played : 17 goals 19 assists 36 points

Well, started ice cold

But warming up to him.

Aaron Vickers had a lukewarm at best review of him when the pick was made which didn't help. But the information presented in this thread and online has been largely encouraging.

Sounds like a safe pick with upside. Not doing a happy dance still, but I like low risk for the Flames at 16. Cautiously optimistic.

Interesting a lot of people wanted Perrault right before the pick and he fell quite a bit. I had Honzek in the Danielson/Yager/Barlow group so not too surprised. I thought that was kind of the consensus but a lot of people seemed pissed.

Ppl were going to be passed no matter who they took. This is the way here.

Do you have the even strength #s for all the WHL draft eligibles this year? And/or where do you get it?

If Bedard fell to the Flames there would be complaints here that he will be too expensive in 3 years.

All draft picks outside of a special few, are still magic beans. Depending on the organization, the coaches, the players he plays with and who mentors him, the willingness to learn and still handle physical and social development while still a teenager goes farther than the talent he's shown the last few years in junior or college.
