Some yes. Shouldn’t your question instead be whether or not paying people minimum is considered cheap since the statement made by dissentowner was that Murray Edwards isn’t cheap when it comes to the flames?

Not all event staff make minimum wage, far from it. Source, I know plenty of people that have worked events and still do. Also, paying market rates for wages isn't the definition of being cheap. If you want to make claims about Edwards being cheap with the Flames, the market rates paid to event staff is a weird basis to form that opinion. Also, I doubt Edwards sets the wages for event staff.

If you want to consider paying people as little as you are legally allowed to pay them as not cheap that’s up to you.

Sounds like a successful businessman.

Great. Just what the team needs - another 1-2 year coach.

Also exposed Jonathan Marchessault to the Golden Knights after a 30 goal season. That's going to be a fun storyline in the SCF! So nobody is perfect.

Not a big fan of hiring a coach with an apparent short shelf life (Gallant) but the guy wins a lot, you have to give him that.
The Flames clearly trying to win now, so that appeals to them if Gallant has said he'd come here.
Maybe they go:
HC: Gallant
AC: Love
AC: Savard or Tanguay
With an eye to potentially promoting Love when Gallant reaches his inevitable end 2.4 years from now.

I would be ok with that.
If the team has any window at all (and management appears to believe they are still in one), it is an immediate one. Gallant is a win now coach. Just make sure the contract aligns with the shelf life of the guy.

The Tkachuk had another level theme is interesting...in the regular season technically this is the level he played at for the Flames last year, he just got 3 more minutes of ice time per game.
Regular Season:
5v5:
21/22 CGY: 3.25 P/60
22/23 FLA: 3.1 P/60
5v5 xGF:
21/22 CGY: 71.9%
22/23 FLA: 64.0%
Powerplay:
21/22 CGY: 7.24 P/60
22/23: 6.17 P/60
TOI per GP:
21/22 CGY: 17:53
22/23 FLA: 20:26
So the difference is he is playing 2:30 per game in Florida. He was actually more productive at a per minute basis in Calgary.
In the playoffs it's actually a similar story, expect for Florida having a deadly PP right now and Flames PP struggling last year.
5v5
21/22 CGY: 2.11 P/60
22/23 FLA: 2.23 p/60
5v5 xGF:
21/22 CGY: 57.0%
22/23 FLA: 56.9%
Powerplay
21/22 CGY: 4.45 P/60
22/23 FLA: 8.1 P/60
TOI/GP
21/22 CGY: 17:59
22/23 FLA: 22:42
So he's played a whopping 4:43 more per game in the playoffs this year and gotten much better goaltending while he's been on the ice.
Playoff Save Percentage:
21/22 CGY: .855
22/23 FLA: .947
More icetime and better on ice goaltending (in the playoffs) has helped make it look like Tkachuk has "taken the next step". When really Florida has just trusted their stars to win them the game more than Sutter ever did.
Conroy has already said we need to play our stars more, and honestly that's probably the first step and unfortunately 2 years too late. We make fun of the Oilers for it a lot but I think it's actually the way the NHL is going. Your best players need to be on the ice for 20-22 minutes per game...no more playing them 17-18 minutes per night. I can see trying to keep them around 20 minutes a game in the regular season, but especially in the playoffs you need to have them out closer to the 22 minute mark.

What kind of history does he have with players. Would that would facrtor in Lindy , Backlund decisions? Will Kadri play for him?

The problem is, Gallent's shelf life is short, really short. Has he ever serve his full contract? If he's somewhat like Sutter, I don't think the Flames can survive another season like that. I'm surprise nothing leaked out about him, like why he get fired so often?

Apparently he’s a good guy, smart, and players like him. But he’s also solitary, stubborn, and doesn’t collaborate well. So eventually other people in the organization tire of him.
I don’t know why Conroy would consider him for a change of direction after Sutter.

TSN insiders reiterated Gallant, Love, Huska and Muller, and added Green and Savard to the list
Surprised there are no rumors on Boudreau

I like Gallant as a coach but just don't think that's the type of guy you bring in with this team being at the stage it's at

That was the previous management that gifted the Knights a first line.

Gallant or Green off of that list. So G or G.

I suspect even Hartley was hired cheap. he was desperate for a job.
