I'll say this about Lindholm, he signed and extremely team friendly deal as an RFA when he came here, heck, as did Hanifin. Both have greatly outperformed their respective contracts.
They both rightfully should be compensated for their efforts. Whether it's here or elsewhere, they earned a nice payday.
TBF, Lindholm was a bit of a reclamation project considering his draft position, and so was Hanifin to an extent. At 4 years in Lindy seemed to have stalled at 40-45 points and was not playing centre. Treliving was negotiating from a stronger position.
Hanafin Anderson
Weegar Kylington
Poirier Zadorov
Gilbert (in and out for toughness)
Assuming this is the youth injection still some moves to be made pending drafted players and if anyone can steal a spot out of Junior. Does 16 overall make an impression and force Flames hand with a player like Mang or Dube? Do Flames trade and package #16 to move up and grab an impact player.
Still lots to sort out for a lineup but I wouldn't be opposed to running with this and bring Lucic in as 13th forward @ $1MM and dress him and Gilbert for when we play the heavier teams as this would be a small but pesky lineup.
Although I did say I was glad the Lucic/Lewis/Ritchiex2 years were over.

I'd like to see another 6 year contract with Lindy. I think that would be the sweet spot.
This team needs to be more wary of having guys beyond 35.
I don't disagree, though of anyone on the team, I think Lindholm will likely age better than anybody else with the way he plays. He's not like some of those players who rely entirely on speed, rather he plays the game with a remarkable intelligence and positional soundness that I don't think two way type guys of his caliber really ever lose.
"youth movement" doesn't mean just making the easy decisions - like getting rid of Rooney or Ritchie or whatever. It also means going into a season with a queasy feeling because you NEED a young guy to step up and replace a veteran who has been good. Like Toffoli or Lindholm.

Conroy mentioned this as well. Said that Lindholm does little things all over the ice that help the team succeed.
Can't remember the exact language, but basically said with his skill-set he would remain a valuable contributor as he ages and moves down the lineup.
