Well the Flames are probably the worst team in the league when it comes to hiring head coaches. Sutter is by miles the best they have had but he's past his expiry date.

I dunno, I have to rationalize that period because otherwise I might just cry.
The team is exactly as we have seen all season Cali. Closer to bottom feeders than contenders. No one fears the Flames. When your leading scorer is Tyler Toffoli and has the year long goaltending as seen, there is no hope. They are not a threat or going anywhere.

At least I have the Panthers/Leafs to cheer for due to former Flames. Glad to see Florida leapfrog the Pens! Chucky with 3 point again and heck, Benny with 2!

I’d get ready to hear it until the end of time as it is what pro sports is now.

Must win game and the Kings have more goals than the Flames have shots after 1 period. Classic

So true, every coach in Calgary in recent memory has been tuned out by the players. It’s definitely tiring and looks like the carousel will continue again after this season.

Actually outside of the top line the team was a bit of a mess last year too.

Weird line combinations. Had Backlund on the wing at one point, Monahan centering Lucic and Lewis, just a bit of a mess.

But the 1st line was +60 at 5v5 and the rest of the team was -3 at 5v5. So the top line masked a lot of the same issues we are seeing this year (can't finish, and not generating enough quality).

….yeah, this doesn’t feel like the group to do that tbh.
I mean it's doable in 2 periods. You just have to chip away at it.

But you also have to cut out the dogshirt on your own end, completely.

Technically they could have had no goalie in that period and they’d still be winning.

Let’s face it, this team isn’t missing one or two pieces, they need like 5 or 6. The talent just isn’t there and I don’t see them improving in the off season. That would be a near impossible task.

That was a pretty lame period. Time for a comeback if they have any pride or balls.

Bruce Boudreau please. Or an assistant from a winning club. Or promote Mitch Love. Anything other than this.

I’m starting to think that speculation from Friedman might actually be true

It's the norm in the NHL unless you win a cup. Average tenure of a head coach is 2.5 years.

As "impotent" as he's appeared, its the #1 reason you have to fire Sutter. His handling of him has been worse than his performance and we have him signed for another bazillion years. The way Sutter has just gutted this guys confidence in the media and playing plugs virtually the same minutes as a guy we are going to have to rely on for the next number of years, it clearly screams rift in the locker room to me.

I don't necessarily disagree that they need another coach but there is something weird about the whole situation right now. The contrast to last year is too big. Sutter wasn't making these kinds of puzzling decisions that he is now making regularly.

The blow up in the room could've been galvanizing

Too bad it appears they took door #2 (with the number 2 on it)

Jeez. It’s gotten so bad, the Flames brass needed to get Lanny to inspire Huberdeau. Good for the Flames to try and pull out all the stops. Maybe they should ask Gary Leeman to come have a chat with Huby as well, tell him what not to do.
