Well. Yeah. They had the better part of 12-15 years to deal with that.

It is kind of funny because actual Qataris think physical exertion is beneath their dignity so this was always going to happen.

If anything, I'm more surprised that their nonsense wasnt absurdly more blatant like abducting a superstar or two and paying them a fortune until their naturalization went through.

That being said, Qatar didnt invent stocking your National team with foreign talent.

I think they've tightened up the rules. 16 of 26 players are born in Qatar and its not like the other 10 are Brazilians. They are around the middle east.

Citizenship and 5 years of residency are the fifa rules for players with no personal/familial connection. And no caps with other nations within certain parameters.


I haven't gone through the list systematically but seems like a lot of north Africans and a French dude from what I saw. Not many willing to trade their career away that young anymore I guess as there was nothing in the rules stopping them from doing same with Brazilians. Don't doubt that they tried it.

I really wonder how this tournament is going to go down because if you treat people badly...they're going to behave badly, I know all of the focus is on the England fans, but there are going to elements for a number of nations and all its going to take is a little push.

And I wonder if 'yoinking' the beer at the last second was that little nudge.

On the grand scale of things, no beer is…small beer.

There’s no beer on sale in grounds during Champions League and Europa League games.

My beef is with the killing and the slavery.

Everyone's should be, but its been going on for a while now and nobody who has had an opportunity has done anything about it.
