I remember even Gulutzan losing it on Gaudreau’s wasted energy/compete on the defensive side of the puck.

And Gudbranson is an absolute disaster for them
Everyone calls it sour grapes but I still think Gaudreau was a poor move for the Jackets...they will be bad for his prime years and making them slightly better will hurt them more than it helps. That is a team that should be going hard for Bedard

which should surprise no one. I'm extremely happy for him to bag that contract, he seemed like a good dude and had a good year for us. But paying a guy like him 4 x 4 is absolute madness and he can thank Sutter for that.

The lack of compete in his game at times is shocking.

Tkachuk with another 3 points tonight and 7 shots on goal. Currently #4 in league scoring.

On pace for 118 points. Impressive start with the new team. I am surprised.

Gulutzan as not a good motivator, he struggled with the whole team. Darryl holds players to a higher standard. Johnny would probably do better with the right coach same with a lot of players..

They play 2 playoff teams from last season in their first 12 games though...a good start but I bet that pace comes way down when they face stiffer competition

Fundamentally true, but a strategic failure in that particular case where two guys are scoring like 2pt/game pace. Let one of EDM's "Giordanos" beat us from 60 feet rather than Dumb or Dumberer do it from the slot...

Is it Sutter's system? Or maybe his D partner? Maybe Big Z was really doing a lot more for Gudbranson.

I agree. Correct me if I am wrong but Guy said that Darryl was the right coach for Johnny because he is hard on the players and Johnny needs that. Same way Guy said he coaches himself. As far as Chucky goes. He’s is naturally more competitive when he has something to prove. It being his first year in Florida he will put up the points. We will see in the further years however.

If I had to put money on who will put up more points over the course of their new contracts, Johnny or Chucky, I'm picking Tkachuk.
Younger. On a better team..sure. But really it's about how he plays. Tkachuk has an internal motor and drive that few players have. He may not have the wheels, but he wills himself into every tough situation to make a positive difference.
Gaudreau? When he feels like it. When he's on there's nobody better in the game. That's my honest opinion. He just rarely gets to that point on his own and needs a motivator. The rest of his career will depend completely on his coach and quality of teammates.
That won't be the case with Tkachuk.

I agree and disagree. Johnny certainly needs a motivator of a coach. But Chucky is known to quit on plays if he feels it doesn’t go his way. However Florida is a much better team and he should put up more points than Johnny being in Columbus. I predict Chucky out scores Johnny this year for sure.

I said before every played out that if it came down to keeping only one of them, I would take Tkachuk. When all is said and done, I suspect Tkachuk will have the better overall career of the two.

Almost as good as Kadri.
On pace for 123 points and is a centre.

Not to beat a dead horse but I keep Johnny all day long if he has the proper coach and line-mates. Not even close for me but that’s just my opinion

Chucky with 1G, 2A, 7SOG, +4, 20:52 tonight. 2pts behind McJesus.
He's gonna get some Hart votes this year, now that he's out East and 80% of the NHL media will be able to actually watch him play.

I've only watched two Panthers games this year but he has been good for them. I don't think he'll continue at this pace but it has certainly been a new look for them.

I’m super happy Tkachuk is seeing success. I hold no ill will towards either him or Johnny. I hope Tkachuk continues to do well (except against the Flames of course!). No reason why you’d want to see him fail, IMO.
