Love the show. The comments about plugs/ads are weird. Do these people listen to/follow podcasts online at all? The alternative to what they're doing is to go the customer pay route and that is death for most podcasts.

$5/mth for each subscriber? That works for the cream of the crop in the podcast world with hundreds of thousands/millions of subscribers, it doesn't work for anyone else. They have a great product with a sizeable user base. With that you do sponsors and ads, full stop. Insane to complain about that, it's literally the way the podcast world works.

I'm liking the post-game shows as well. They actually stick to hockey talk since the game itself is still on their minds.

Plus it's easier to view those live, as they aren't in the middle of the workday.

The podcasts you speak of probably have a potential audience of tens to hundreds of millions vs. maybe 1.5-2.0 million people in Southern Alberta. You can't be Joe Rogan regardless of how awesome your content is when you're only catering to a mid-size North American city. I enjoy the show and when I'm back in Calgary will always pop in on Bon Ton and other sponsors for keeping a show I found very enjoyable afloat.

I think too the age of becoming a HUGE podcast, not hosted by folks that are already famous, are pretty much over. So as Cowboy says, focus on your niche. It's the old Morning Show airlifted into a Flamesnation Podcast, and which it seems Flamesnation is also succeeds from. So far it seems like a win win for both.

I also appreciate that as a non rights holder, they can more easily call a spade a spade.

Sometimes Rhett is a little too negative, but overall I agree. Calling a spade a spade is such a glaring omission from mainstream sports media these days.

Ok, I'm just too picky. I know they have make money at this and don't expect them to do it for free, and I do like the show. It usually starts of on a terror for the first 30-45 mins, but the Pinder Report sucks the life out a bit as 1) I listen and don't catch any of the video he describes, 2) they usually are struggling with Tech issues during the bit, and 3) it is about this time when Rhett checks out.

I actually like a lot of what he says. I agree with a lot of it. He actually called it at the start of the year when everyone thought this team was going to be so good and a Stanley cup contender.Remember the summer of BRAD. He said Tre could end up running for mayor or he could be run out of town if things did not work out.He called Tre out for panicking and signing these guys right away.He questioned the direction of the team. You always have options and can do something different but what do people say, well he had no choice. You always have other choices but it is just easier to cave to public perception. He says what's on his mind and is hard on what he says about the flames but it is usually the truth but some don't like to hear the truth. I find him very refreshing in a time where the lack of truth and fakeness is more rewarded than someone like him says what he wants and does not care what other people think.

I also don't disagree with that!

I do think though sometimes he doesn't consider the opitics of some of those options (ie not signing Huberdeau) etc. But when he decides to be engaged with the show, and Pinder* lets him talk, it's usally interesting.

*I like Pinder I just think he's not the best as remembering to let Rhett speak when he's fired up because Rhett's skyping in and not present in the room. Which would maybe be my only note on the show.

Rhett's shtick is annoying. He's such a wet blanket. It's not all roses and sunshine, but he doesn't have to turn his nose up at every single thing.

I prefer 1000x more than listening to Derek wills on the postgame show on the fan. It’s mostly just blind faith drivel, to me.

I'm a glutton for punishment. I didn't hear what Wills had to say but now I'm curious

He went from being mildy frustrated which was huge for him to saying they can find positives and 'every point matters' ignoring that they lost two. And then getting almost gitty when they played Sutter's clip.

I'm with you. Please call a spade a spade. But damn, not all in this world sucks.

Rhett just seems to be pissed about everything and anything -- like the sun is too bright when it's out.

Rhett is very engaged (enraged?) in the show today.
