Sure, but Gaudreau gone was exactly the space needed to extend Huberdeau.

Calgary needs to clear as much space as possible. That's a terrible deal for Calgary. Why would they want Hoffman?

Taking a while to get to 5000

The Flames can't bring salary back. Unless Tre is moving Valimaki, Dube or someone else. Monahan isn't bringing anyone back. Why is everyone having such a hard time with this?

If you're adding Kadri in the mix via UFA, you'll have to include Gaudreau in leaving via UFA.

Wouldn't clear enough space for the Flames anyway.

would MTL really say no if we offered a 2nd round pick?

My guess is they did say no. I don’t think BT started with a first

To take on over $6M of dead weight cap hit?
Absolutely they would.

Apparently Treliving was stuck in line at an Ikea in Texas and is currently trying to assemble a desk with no more than an Allen key and a lot of curse words.
I'd expect the details to emerge in another 4 to 5 hours.

I kind of the see end result of the trades as Tkachuk and Monahan cap dump for Weegar, Huberdeau and Schwindt. Calgary essentially traded Monahan as part of that deal, since the first is supposedly being used for the dump.
|
Not in evaluating the trade(s)
You count Kadri because you moved Monahan and a 1st to acquire the space to sign Kadri
So:
Tkachuk + 4th for Huberdeau + Weegar + Schwindt + FLA 1st
Monahan + FLA 1st for Kadri
Tkachuk + Monahan + 4th for Huberdeau + Weegar + Schwindt + Kadri
Gaudreau walked and was a pure negative, but wasn't part of these transactions

Only in 2025.
If the conditions move it to 2026, then there is no protection.
I only see conditions if it is a lottery pick in 2025.
I think that pick could be top 10 in 2026.

Why dead weight? It's not like he can't play. Is a first round pick really worth more than 6M?

the reason you include Kadri in the transactions is that Monahan and the 1st were moved out SPECIFICALLY to sign Kadri. If no Kadri, no Monahan deal.
