God damn, much like Theo and Sheldon before him I stand with Kyle Beach on this. I never expected him to put his name out there (not in that I had an inside scoop, I just never expected the player to name him self) and what he has done is courageous and I hope he finds peace and justice.
Edit - Listening to that interview is breaking my heart. I had to stop as he talked about the guy being at the Cup Parade and how the team Psyche told him it was his fault. Just truly damning of the blackhawks organization

Sportsnet must have issued an apology by now that I am missing, right?
How can you watch that interview, and then go on TV and say something like that? Insane. It’s like a Beaverton piece. The guys story is about how his abuse was swept under the rug to not be a distraction to a team winning… and then the mouthpieces for a team off to a hot start immediately defend one of their players for the same reason. I’m pretty pissed about that.

This is infuriating… what basis do these f&$@(*# pair of morons have to make the deduction that Duncan Keith would have done something about it had he known. 100% guaranteed Duncan Keith knew about this so we already have the answer on what Duncan Keith would have done, sweet f#$& all….
There should be backlash and consequences for bull$&#@ reporting and accusations like this on very real serious life situations that attempt to shed positive light on your dog#$&@ team and players when frankly it should be quite the opposite. Believe the Edmonton media has reached a new low here, very impressive for their standards.

makes me wonder yet again what's still going on at the lower levels when these kids leave home as young teens.
That, and what's even going on today in the higher levels, including the NHL.
This is the hockey culture; and quite frankly sports culture in general. Blackhawks can't be the only organization here that are keeping similar situations like this under the rug.
Like many hockey fans, I tuned in to hear the gut wrenching interview with Kyle Beach about how his trauma and abuse was swept under the rug so a hockey team could win in peace. One of the most heartbreaking accounts I’ve ever heard.
For about 5 minutes it felt like maybe this would help turn the tide, to give strength and courage to others who were victimized, something I assumed the entire hockey world would get behind. Especially hockey media.
But then, this (screenshot):
Gene Principe “Sensing Keith would’ve done something about Blackhawks scandal had he known”….. I’m not sure I could have contrived such an evil and dismissive headline if I tried. It’s almost unbelievable. I actually thought it was a sick satire piece or something when I first saw the screenshot. “No way” I thought… “absolutely no way someone would go on TV and say this after watching that interview”.
You turned around and did exactly what the Blackhawks did to Beach.. The Oilers and their All-Star offence, and 5-0 start, brought in a key member of that 2010 hawks team to try and win it all… and are sweeping the story under the rug to try and avoid distractions while winning it all! It’s disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. I have to assume there are staff at sportsnet who agree, because I assume human beings work there in some capacity.
This isn’t the story or the place for team mouthpieces to start defending players related to the story. This is the entire mentality that Beech is speaking out against. How was this missed? How does a camera crew, producers, executives, etc… let this get to air without saying “maybe we shouldn’t get involved”.
The furthest you should go on this matter is to not discuss it at all, if you want to be a traitor to the victims of sexual assault. But this? Really? Really????
I better see a live apology tonight. Completely disgusted.
Wake up,

In the video, Beach clearly states that everyone in the dressing room likely knew: “I believe everyone in that locker room knew about it”
Here, the Oilers media are implying that Keith didn't know.
So they're essentially calling Beach (and the other players that said everyone knew) liars.

That's a bad look.
Unless I’m dumb or inept, which is possible, that video seems to be gone.
Perhaps Sportsnet actually realised it’s stupidity for once?

It can likely trace back to the Colonialism ways of North American culture, and extends beyond hockey and sports in general. The Blackhawks were the most successful NHL team of that era, and today we look back and see that they had no regard for this and were far more concerned with not distracting the guys playing the games.
When I reflect upon this right now, the first thing that comes to mind is that nothing in hockey has changed despite Sheldon Kennedy speaking up over 20 years ago, than Fleury did so 10 years after that, and now this is all out there. What else has happened in the 11 years since this incident that has yet to be revealed? I only saw parts of Beach's interview yesterday but I particularly felt bad for him when he mentioned the other victim and that he personally felt some responsibility for that taking place. Yet these other folks like Bowman, Quenneville, the entire Blackhawks team seem to show no remorse for endorsing this guy to get that next job.

I'm not sure which awareness ribbon would be appropriate, but the league should force Chicago to put a giant version of it right in the middle of the Stanely Cup banner they hung in their arena for 2010. Don't let anyone forget what they were willing to cover up to win that cup.
Toews comments are pretty bad. He heard about it, the guy left, "it was water under the bridge at that point" Seriously?
Apologies, this has already been discussed. I just read about it this morning, it makes me sick the level of wilfull blindness to the situation. People keep saying Toews was only 22 - he was old enough to know right from wrong, and he was the damn Captain of the team. Totally lost all respect for him.
