Lucky breaks were had, but thats how the playoffs go. Full marks for them beating the Knights though.

The notion that they were built for the playoffs was thrown around at the start of last season too and was brought up again during the playoffs. I think they were but injuries derailed them.

As for KK, I think its pretty clear the team doesn't believe in him, he doesn't much care for the team and that come Saturday they'll let him walk.

Don't worry. If the Flames make a run to the finals next season there will be a sizable group here that will still believe they suck and don’t deserve it. It comes with the territory.

Pretty hard to take the Habs seriously when the Flames won more games in an absolute debacle of a season. And they were a post away from losing in round 1 to a team without one of its top players.

Looking at their roster this season...enjoy the memories Habs fans. I would put money down on them missing if anyone is interested.

I'm sure the Flames will have a monster season, too. Enjoy the continued mediocrity.

Us Canadian fans shouldn't turn against one another, well, except Edmonton because they're no good. But us other Canadian fans should stick together in our shared mediocrity.

You can't hurt us by telling us things we already know.

There is no "sticking together" in this dojo. In the hockey world, on CalgaryPuck and on the streets we see another teams jersey and they are enemy, and we show the enemy no mercy.

Now I will show you some self defense tips to use.

I didn’t used to mind Ottawa but they screwed Calgary by sucking at the wrong time last season. And then getting better at the wrong times.

It's hard to feel much one way or the other about Ottawa, I find. I also don't hate Montreal as much as all the others. ymmv

Oh yeah, Calgary had nothing to do with it. Just bad timing, as Jim Cuddy would say.

Did I say Calgary had nothing to do with it? No.

But are you seriously arguing that certain other teams didn’t feast on Ottawa early in the season and Calgary got them when they were a plus .500 team?

Flames can finish ahead of the Habs and his point will still stand.

What point was that exactly? that he is butt hurt people call out the Habs on a CALGARY FLAMES MESSAGE BOARD

They had less wins than multiple non playoff teams...their run was obviously a fluke and are now missing some of their best players from that fluke run. And that was the worst cup finals in history, I blame Vegas and even the Avs for choking.

Imagine Tampa/Colorado

When was Ottawa a plus .500 team?

Since all teams in the Canadian division had essentially the same schedule, complaining about the timing of when they played certain teams is what I would expect from an Oiler fan.

After their very slow start (they had a 0-9 run), I distinctly recall it being shown that they were a plus .500 team in the second half of the season. Then they finished 10-3-1. And the schedule was heavily unbalanced. Ottawa weren’t through a two-three week period where they had less than AHL quality goaltending, and a couple teams (Edmonton for example) got to play them a lot during that period. Then they figured it out and Calgary couldn’t take advantage.

Yes, that’s Calgary’s problem. But it’s also a fact that Ottawa went though a really bad period and Calgary didn’t get to play them then.

Maybe if they had played Calgary at the start they would have gotten off to a very good start.

Calgary played Montreal when they were very weak, with Price out.

But at the end of the day, it is a foolish excuse to raise, is it seems so petty. Calgary missed the playoffs because they played very poorly when it mattered most. They couldn't beat teams when it mattered, in the worse division in the NHL.
