Reminds me of Joe Mullen...but a better skater.
Both NYC guys too!

I hope he is as good as the last RH RW sniper the Flames had from the New York City area.

Honestly, I was praying that they would draft a goal scorer...not to denigrate either Zary or Pelletier...but Coronato is a sniper that Calgary simply doesn't have in their organization.
Its a very good pick...premature to get worked up about what happens in 4 years.

5'10 but 183 lbs. Not a lightweight by any means.
If he hits 5'11, 190-200, he should be able to keep up his gritty game at the next level.

Booo. You know who I meant. Hnat is who I think of every time someone says “get X - he played great with Y in junior”.

Kerfoot, Vesey, Fox, Marino. It’s not that some Harvard players choose to go free agency... it’s that MOST Harvard players go this route
|
Let's put this in perspective. All of these players were later round picks who needed substantial time to develop.
Kerfoot - 5th round 150th overall 2012 (NJD)
Vesey - 3rd round 66th overall 2012 (NSh)
Marino - 6th round 164 overall 2015 (Edm)
Fox - 3rd round 66th overall 2016 (Cgy)
Most kids who are smart enough to get in to Harvard also know there is risk delaying their NHL careers so they can finish their degree and sign with team of their choice. If a kid is good enough to earn a contract in college years 1-3 almost all are going to jump on the opportunity to make millions of dollars.
First rounders who played 4 years in NCAA then signed with other teams are limited to:
Blake Wheeler - 5th overall 2004, Phoenix
Kevin Hayes - 24th overall 2010, Chicago
Am I missing anyone for first rounders? Fox blowing up definitely hurt but I don't think it should mean you avoid Harvard bound players especially when you have a special goal scorer like Coronato available. Pretty happy to pick the top ranked goal scoring RW available in the draft!

They’re like that Karen from accounting who actually has no personality except to complain. I think some people’s personalities are fuelled by it.

That's just the reality of following a team that's been mediocre for most of their existence. 2019 broke a lot of Flames fans, me included. It'll be a long road to gain any kind of confidence from this franchise again

I am very happy with this pick exactly what the Flames need more of in the system. You miserable bastards out there who complain about everything can’t ruin that no matter how hard you try.

Based on that video, when he graduates to the big club we might be able to finish off a 2 on 0! Lethal, doesn't hang about with the puck on his stick but can get it off in a variety of ways, from all over the offensive zone. We have a one timer from the left side of the PP if we need one.

Interesting comparison. Never saw that until you mentioned it. Mullen was such an awkward skater, more running in skates than actually skating, that I find it hard to see a player like him. But when you focus on shot and release, the comparison is pretty good. Would be nice if he could score like Elmer Fudd.

True that.
After hearing Larsson was run out of Edmonton for being the "1 for 1" joke about Hall, I rather not Coronato be run out because insecurities over Adam Fox keep resurfacing.

Is it my imagination or do Zary, Pelletier and Coronato seem to have complementary skill sets?

Concern has lessened for sure, though I think re-signing Gaudreau can only help with this, given that Coronato could very well see time on his line in 2-3 years if Johnny stays in Calgary.

He literally has not posted one thing about being a flame nor being happy about being drafted here. Not saying he's unhappy but I don't know what you're referring to.
