Obviously the official line is that it was a legit hit.

Edit: they go over the hit again in the intermission and still no comment. Unbelievable!

Hell of a period. Flames owned majority of it. That is a good thing. Ritchie just earned 25 "big ern" points with that education of Khaira. That should learn for ya for targeting the head of our player..

Glad Kylingtons back. Don't think Khairas coming back though, that right hander was the fist of God.

Are there any soccer nets in the building? That's the only net the Flames are coming close to hitting.

So a blind headshot is ok to show on replay, but don't dare show a fight on replay.

Good first period!! Keep it up.. Make them earn every inch of ice they skate on. Great fight with Ritchie standing up for that cheap hit. Nice to see them standing up for each other now!

They can both be wrong and unnecessary.

Feel sick about that Khaira/Ritchie fight. No fault of either player but ugly to see that end result.
I would also but he didn't seem to upset about elbowing a guy in the head who was already tied up with another player.

Edmonton had i think 1 shot in the last like 15 minutes. That’s good.

We can’t hit the net very well. That’s bad.

We had the edge in overall play. That’s good.

Keep playing fast and don’t give mcdraisatl space.

With respect to the rest of the game, it was tough slogging out there (both teams playing desperate), but I think the Flames were the better team overall.

So if Khaira is injured for say a week, does he still get suspended?
The hit was without any doubt suspendable. An elbow to the head by a grinder.

There is a problem with how these announcers call the game and it's annoying as hell. Flames absolutely ran the Oilers around for two shifts that period. Probably 1-2 minutes of zone time and 3 or 4 forced turnovers. Right after Kelley's comment is that the "Oilers need to stop the turnovers...but SOME credit to the Flames". He literally said "some"

After a shift where the Flames run the Oilers show they still have to make it about the Oilers.

Refusing to call out the headshot on Kylington was also a joke. If that hit is on McDavid I think the Oilers leave the ice in protest and refuse to finish the game. Oddly in that case McDavid is still the first star and gets 2 assists.

Funny - I actually thought that was his real nickname at first. I legit thought “Damn, that’s a badass nickname!”.

Bummer that I realize now it was just a racist comment.

Well said.

Glad we saw Klyington come back. Hopefully Khaira starts the 2nd

Sportsnet East, Ontario, and Pacific channels have all joined in progress to the Oilers-Flames game.

It was kind of Khaira's fault for being a dirt bag, and partly the refs for not calling a head shot.

Ritchie sent a message loud and clear. Maybe Khaira will think twice when he tries to injure another player.

Feels like one of those situations where if the refs enforce the rules the players won't have to.

And the refs didn't see a problem so now potentially two players are injured. It's frustrating from that standpoint.
