Siakam has not been fined.
I don’t know if you can read too much into this. Team’s on a 9-game losing streak, Siakam had a couple of poor back-to-back defensive efforts (-11 and -14) and is getting benched, of course there is going to be frustration. Yes, he has to handle it better but unless we hear that this was so bad that the Raptors had to move him, then he’s still a core piece for the Raptors going forward. There’s probably quite of few of these incidents that happen in a season but we never hear about.
The team really missed him, OG, and FVV while they were out with COVID. I think that and Finch leaving really derailed the momentum they had built after the 2-8 start.
This season cannot end quick enough. Sell Lowry and Powell, get a high pick and I think things can turn around quickly.
I hope Masai sticks around for the retool but I’m not optimistic, it’s been quiet there.

I betcha Masai is gone as soon as they sell. He's been so coveted and was probably staying to see this build through and see if they could make one or two more runs or retool in a way that allowed them to contend in the near future.

Here's what I read into it: Shams was also the one who reported that the Toronto covid outbreak was the result of coaching staff not wearing masks, a report that was also rebuffed by the organization. If he has a source inside the Raptors, it's a source that's looking to muckrake, potentially inaccurately, and for now I'm going to approach anything he says about the Raptors with skepticism.

What are they waiting for?
Sell everything!
Should've looked into it when Kawhi left and also once again when Giannis signed that extension in Milwaukee.

Almost every rebuild starts a year or two, too late. It's the nature of sports.

I mean they were one horribly played Game 7 from being in the ECF last year, where they matched up very well with Miami. Going for it last year was totally fine. And even though I would have preferred full tank when they started 2-8 (just because it's so hard to outtank some teams), sticking with it this year was also fine. And they hit the wall at the perfect time to cash out. I don't think there can be much hand wringing on the post-title approach.

If you believe the current reports that as many as 10 teams are in the market for Powell, and more teams including the Lakers are trying to get into the Lowry sweepstakes, it's totally possible that the Raptors are waiting until exactly the right time to trigger their rebuild.

I will be very pissed if they trade Lowry to the Lakers, Lakers have nothing of value at all. My top two choices are still Philly and Miami. The market for Powell is more intriguing, someone like Denver who have a good pile of young assets would be a great trade partner.

Gonna be sad to see Lowry go, and Powell to a somewhat lesser extent. They’re the only major sports team I’m a fan of that has won a championship in my lifetime. (I was 5 in ‘89). They’ll forever hold a place in my heart!

Glad to see a win like that if that is their last games. Everyone looked relaxed and loose.
And the all-female broadcast was excellent.
Will be sad to see Lowry and Powell go, but also excited for the future. It's gonna be a fun next 24 hours.

I'm a bit of a mess right now. I've been preparing myself for this possibility most of the season, but watching him walk down the tunnel was pretty tough.

Yeah, I was so happy to actually see a team I follow win it all. I was equally upset at the stupid commentary south of the border. Instead of embracing the win of a Canadian franchise in a league where it's so hard for non major American markets to win, they all basically made fun of it like we beat a ****ing kids team because of injuries.
Shaq's jokes at the awards were especially stupid and annoying. "dur, dur congrats on beating the Golden State Warrior...yeah the Warrior, everyone else was injured". Right in front of the Raptors players, too.

Could you imagine that crap happening from Canadian and American media at the NHL awards show if a Stanley Cup winner beat a team with injuries? Not a chance. It was a such a bizarre reaction down there.

The Jays are going to be really good this year, so we can hold onto hope for that!

I find that argument pretty easy to shutdown, given the Raps were undefeated against the GSW throughout the season, with their full lineup. In one of the wins, the Raps were missing a bunch of guys due to injury. They can pound sand.
