Simular concerns were expressed about Bo Horvat and Leon Draisaitl. I think for many players it is something that can now be fixed.

"What a shot by Rory Kerins. Take a look at this release. That's an NHL shot right there. There's not a goalie in the league that can stop that shot"

Pardon the dumbness, but is he signed, and is this his last year in the OHL? Very interested to see what he can do in the AHL.

They don’t change much. Look at Monahan
But skating is not the only thing if you have some other serious skills. Look at Monahan in early years and Tkachuk now.

For sure. Skating isn't everything, but it's about 90% of everything -- unless you're so ridiculously skilled and have such top-flight hockey IQ that you can overcome it. Tkachuk is probably the worst skater on the team. But he's done ... pretty OK.
Are Kerins' tools enough to overcome a skating deficit? Guess we'll see. ANy chance he plays in the AHL playoffs this year?

Kerins was first star today with 1g/2a. He is now 5 points away from the OHL scoring lead, with 118 pts in 67 games.
Kerins is an incredible 39 points ahead of the next highest scorer on his team.

Kerins gets the 19th spot in the top-20 prospects ranked by PNHLe (age, league and position-adjusted point potential), and finds himself in some good company:

The draft does get easier with hindsight. The Flames have been drafting quite well in the Treliving era, especially with picks after the 3rd round.

The Soo have secured 4th place in the West, and will face Guelph in the first round of the playoffs.
