The White Sox had everything go right for them last season. Their pitchers pitched above their abilities, they found a way to close games using a hodge podge of bad pitchers and young guys and they got timely hitting. If the Jays manage to get all these breaks I think they can make the play-offs but I think there are way too many better teams to think they are a threat to win the Series.

That is a very pessimistic way of looking at it. granted, calling the jays a world series team is premature, but alot of your points are a little speculative.
The jays offense last year, well not powerful was if i remember correctly, the 2nd highest scoring in the AL, and with the additions of Overbay, Glaus, and Molina our hitting will only be better.
Chacin had a great year last yr and though he tapered off a little he has the entire summer to make adjustments, work on his game and improve. To have a 3rd starter of his caliber is great. He brings consistency and will usually have the edge over opposing 3rd starters. Even in games his last he often was outduled by opposing #2s and often #1s later in the year when Halliday was out.
Burnett's record is a good indication of his inconsistency so far, but i would attribute that moreso to his injury problems. If he can stay healthy he will be a good if not great pitcher for us. His pitches are nasty and without having to hit, take batting practice or run the bases may help him remain health. Furthermore, he is reuinted with pitching coach brad arensburg who he has a great relationship with and who ill help his control.
Really, if you look at the Jays lineup on paper you have to see that they can and likly will be competitive with any team in the league next year. The pitching rotations of the Red Sox and Yankees have several more question marks than the Jays who have proven Cy young winner, a legit #2, Chacin, a .500+ Towers and former Allstar (although not that calliber) Lilly. The yankees have a downright old and thus even more injury prone rotation and the redsox dont exactly have quality all the way through (IMO).
IF the jays make the playoffs they have the lineup and picthing staff to beat anyone in a series so hopefully they can sneak in to the extended season in a hard division. if they can i wouldnt rule out WS
