You're right, both our goalies are vastly superior to Robin Lehner. Rittich looks totally in control, and had his back to the first goal for some unknown good reason.

It’s pretty much textbook goaltender interference

By rule it's whether the opposing player is in the crease. No question the contact was incidental and for a short time Backlund's skate entered the crease before gaining possession of the puck which is the only reason I can see for it being overturned.

So Sportsnet couldn't find a female to do Hometown Hockey with Tara? Or would Ron be too upset about missing a broadcast?

I've wanted Lehner on the Flames for years. I wish they would have traded for him.

I mean, many would argue that he lacks balls.

I get frustrated with refs a lot as well, but if the NHL was flat out fixed the Leafs would have won a cup in my lifetime. The revenue generated from a Leafs/Blackhawks final (for example) would be immense.
I do believe in game management though, but tonights call didn't help with that either.

Yep. If that was against us, I would be upset if it counted.
Would it have counted if Vegas scored that same goal? Who knows.

Didn't much like that Rittich looked somewhat uncomfortable from the get-go...not confident on his plays, had his back turned on the first goal, doing a bit of swimming in his crease.
While the goals weren't really on him...I'm not sure I wouldn't mind seeing a goalie change for the second to wake the team up.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I think we could have easily been ok without Ron and had a woman likely do a much better job than him.

TSN has a top 10 of the most controversial calls in hockey history...not just the NHL.
2 of them are against the Flames

League: Backlund impaired Lehner’s ability to play his position prior to his shot entering the net. Rule: If an attacking player initiates any contact w a goalie, other than incidental contact, while the goalie is outside goal crease, & a goal is scored, the goal is disallowed.

A couple months with Jordan Sigalet and I bet Lehner would start looking sloppy too.

He just sat there taking up space and air and blinking they probably didn't need a second person at all.

When did this happen?
Anybody else miss that memo?
Kind of ridiculous that a goalie can wander out and still can't be touched if you want to score.

Sorry; but I've seen that same logic go against us with Rittich in a certain overtime (I want to say against the Stars)
