Not sure what this even means.
He "has to get going"? Where? How does that become being accountable?
Ugh...what a cluster#### this club is.

Yeah, I really don’t get where Treliving is coming from at all. The only conclusion I can make from that tweet is that he wants to make himself the lightning rod for negativity, but he did so in the most noncommittal way possible.

What else can Tre say? He can't say that Peters is on the hot seat, that takes blame off the players. He can't say he's trading the top players, that would just put pressure on making a deal.
All they can do is just play out the season, hope it turns around, and if it doesn't, address it in the off-season.

Usually when the GM defends the coach in public the next step is the coach is fired

I take it as Treliving trying to take some of the bullets himself and not have everything weigh on the team.
He is in the toughest position of his career to make moves being capped out, shouldn’t be trading more futures, and the team is struggling.

Good because, in his own words, he is horse####. Hopefully someone else is making the next big moves for the team this offseason.

That is the Sports GM 101 speech. Coach is fine players not getting traded etc.

I hope he's in planning mode for next year as this year is done. There is nothing he can do now - wait til the trade deadline and start cleaning house.
This "group" is finished

BT has painted himself in a corner, pretty much the way every GM eventually does in the cap era. After this year, or next at the latest we probably need to reload, or rebuild.
I think he is great, but if this continues much longer and with three coaches in and a few unshakable bad contracts still on the books, I think it might be time for him to go.
If Peters goes I think you have to fire BT too and maybe bring in Daryl (or someone similar) as a caretaker for the season. Then let the new GM decide what do with this mess in the off season.

"Its a good group that is under performing"
"Treviling points at himself and says the manager has been hor####, he has to get going."
Huh?? GM 101 or not, this sounds incredibly stupid. He needs to go.

He is not going anywhere. Ownership just signed him to an extension, the same ownership that is apparently cheap. So I don't expect them to be paying two salaries.

That is a good thing. Start making trades at this low point and you end up on the losing end of things. He is right, this group has the pieces, they just have to work through it. Look at the turn around Dallas has had. No reason this team cannot do the same. I know we are all frustrated but we are just going to have to suffer through it.

Did Treliving do a press conference where the only questions came from Derek Wills and Ryan Leslie, who are basically team employees? Or was that just the extent of the fan 960’s clip? Pretty weak if that was the case...

He literally said two things:
- TOP players aren't going anywhere.
- HE has been horsesh*t as a Manager and HE has to get going.
In other words, he said that while he's not trading his top players, it's open season on everyone else.

Well, they are on the road, so I suspect this was an informal availability with the media guys who travel with the team. So yeah, that would be Wills and Leslie. I don't think local news outlets send reporters on the road anymore, do they?

And didn't Burke say Peters' job is safe? I know he doesn't work for the Flames anymore, but you have to think he's still plugged into the team brass.

The question is was last years regular season an accurate reflection of this team. It it is, this is a slump and they’ll come out of it, if not we have a bigger problem. Personally I think last years results were very flattering to this team, I really don’t think they were a second overall team. Unfortunately I wonder if that is giving management confidence that serious changes are not needed.
Ultimately I think we are in a very difficult place management wise, we are a 6-10 team that had an outlier year last year. Too good to blow up, too bad to have meaningful success. We have good players and good contracts so I give Treliving credit there , but we are small and don’t have great goaltending, not exactly a recipie for NHL success.

Nobody wants any of the other players on the Flames. The only GM that would improve his team with the bottom of this lineup is Tre himself.

Rittich is as good as most starters IMO. He makes the odd young goalie mistake.
IMO last year may have been an outlier. But so is this one. The truth is somewhere in the middle.
