I was watching the new Top Gun, and contrasting how the new recruits looked compared to the Cruise, Kilmer, and McGillis original cast. All the young actors, although attractive, looked so bland and had no real facial features.

I was thinking that Cruise and Kilmer probably wouldn't make it as actors today, as that have too distinctive of facial features. It's really messed up.

Trying to judge the irony of social media pressuring a celebrity to look like a celebrity so much that they get surgery, only to be judged by social media that she didn't need to do that. People rule.

Yeah. She looked nice. I cant say I had any complaints about her looks.

i cant speak for "people" or "social media" writ large, but, I can say for myself:
1) I always think getting plastic surgery is a bad choice unless your fixing a major defect or something really odd. Like a giant nose. And I'm speaking as a person blessed with a big schnoz.

2) I don't think anyone was criticizing this lady for her looks in a serious or consistent way. She was beautiful, she really had an all american girl look to her. So I don't buy that she was "bullied" in to anything.

Naw. If you look at the original cast in the 80s they were all kind of unique looking, in their own ways. Even the comedic relief character "Bob" was played by kind of a generic good looking actor.

I don't think an actor like Tom Cruise would be successful today, without first shaving down his nose.

For me, plastic surgery was generally older woman trying to look younger. So whenever I see it on a younger woman it just makes them look older to me. Especially this new style which just looks... weird. Definitely feels weird to be commenting on looks like in this manner these days but I definitely just truly don't get it. Maybe I'm out of touch. If it makes her feel better about herself then I guess good for her, have at it. I just find it odd.

lol I remember chuckling at this at the time as well. Generic good looking actor, but they gave him the birth control glasses to sell you that he's the dorky one.

I'm just hoping it's a lot of contouring and temporary lip stuff. That's just... yeah. If she feels good about it was something that makes her happy then more power to her.
