Definition can be used in different ways though. Like "Steve McQueen is the definition of cool" or "You will find a new definition of pain and suffering as you are slowly digested over a thousand years."
I alwas took it to mean "a good example of insanity is..."

Has there ever been four head coaches fired before US Thanksgiving in a season before? The stakes seem so high now that teams are cutting bait rather than wait for things to turn around. I don't think the Kings or Hawks are any better now than before the firings.

Did you guys know that the official Oxford English dictionary defines “tire fire” as simply “Edmonton Oilers“?
That’s real. Don’t bother posting quotes you found from other online dictionaries. That’s the actual definition.

Hitchcock is going to be phoning in the rest of this season. Hey Oiler fans, here's a sneak peek of what you can expect from Hitchcock's approach to coaching for the rest of the year.

Man they really don't know whats going on do they?
Should have fired the GM first. Then let the new GM find a new coach at his leisure.
Honestly, I cant believe Hitch took the job!
"Hey hitch, we have some players you're familiar with plus you get to coach the best player in the history of hockey! Ty Rattie is out #1 Rw, you know him from your STL days right? Oh, you never kept him on the main roster..."

Part of it might be that last year a lot more teams that were out by US Thanksgiving made it in, so they think there's still time to fix things. I think All of the teams that have fired the coach except maybe the Blues are unfixable though.

No way. He chose that tire fire. I only feel bad for players who have traded to Shelbyville. If you sign there as a free agent, re-sign or take on a coaching/management gig it’s your own damn fault and I wish you nothing but misery and failure.

Hitchcock was born in Edmonton. Where does he live? Was this just "put a local in while we tread water" move?

Why would the Oilers play for Hitchcock knowing his system is no fun and it will hurt their stats and future paycheques?

Thank god for Chiarelli. The Oilers could have actually been a power house if they just left the team alone the year he got hired.

It was a "who would actually want the job as a lame duck coach of this gong show, knowing full well that it would ruin his opportunity for future employment, and wouldn't have to sacrifice too much/want to be paid too much to move to Edmonton" move.

I thought the Oilers have been better than I expected this season. Not MacLellans fault that's still no good.
So yeah, I think they likely found a way to make things worse. They're not going to be just bad, they're now also going to be boring.
