It's so nice to see all 4 lines have skill on them. Every line created at least one good chance. Halak made some big saves and we missed the net a few times.
The team looked sloppy a couple times but hey, its the first pre season game

I'm very encouraged by the period. The 3rd pairing has been bad and Gillies is pretty shaky, but I like the way they're playing.

I've been very impressed by Hanifin, Czarnik, and Ryan so far.

Love that the D's first pass is up to a forward now, not to their D partner.

Not necessarily. There is practically no separation between him, Bennett, Jankowski and Czarnik. Ryan is a good player and he has outscored all of them.

Jankowski and Bennett are developing chemistry, you can tell. They just need someone that has some actual hockey sense and NHL skill on their right side. Hard to be two guys trying to break out while doing it all on their own for that line.

There was a lot to like that period. Very uptempo play. Great speed. Good movement. Lots of chances. Good looking powerplay. Brodie looked good.

That was probably more entertaining than half the games last year.

Tough first period especially for Gillies. Thought they played well minus the 3 or so minute stretch. Impressed with Czarnik. Seems to be around the puck and has some speed.

I'd like to see them try Czarnik, based on what I've seen so far. Or maybe Dube

Peter's collar was in the way of his mouth. I was kind of hoping he would start chewing on it.

Did Hathaway come back after taking that Bruins' skate? I don't think I've seen him since

Popped collar cool. Is that still a thing?

Gillies looks rusty.

Unacceptable for the first game in preseason

Certainly playing a quick transition game and moving the puck quickly in general. Most importantly, the skill up front to handle that speed.
