I checked Michael Schucker's chart of NHL draft pick values. It's a few years old now, but I don't know offhand of a newer version. It would appear that Lazar, with 230 GP, has already beaten the average for second-round picks on that metric. It would be nice if he scored a point more than once a month or so. Even so, if he plays a few more years and tops out as a good defensive forward in the bottom 6, he'll have beaten the expected value of a 2nd.
