Fair enough.

I think he has gone down that road before and didn't like the likely ending spot.

I was always under the belief he would be back in the fold.

Either way, huge signing.

Another big signing. With the work he's done I can't imagine Stamps are going to be busy at all today. Not a lot of needs, nor likely money to spend.

And that's why Messam probably isn't coming back.

Among other things, I think they want to run Finch out of the backfield a lot more because he's just more dynamic in terms of what they can do.

Another one that I really didn't expect to see resigned because as a returner, he'd get a deeper look by NFL teams.

with the one guy that I wanted in Tasker signed, I would assume that the Stamps who probably have a big chunk of change left over with the trade of Hughes, the departure of MM and Messam, might.

I would expect that the Stamps would be looking to shore up their Oline, receivers and maybe try to add to their defense.

Especially if Campbell doesn't come back.

Do they look at a guy like Figueroa, a strong still young LT, which is always a good position to grab from. or grab a national like Fabien, who can play either guard position.

Personally i might be tempted to grab Ronnie Yell, if Campbell is unsignable today. the guy is a boundry beast.

I also wouldn't be surprised if receiver wise they take a run at Cory Watson, I would probably want to see the Stamps take a run at Demski if he isn't signed by noon.

Unfortunately it doesn't appear Stamps and Campbell were as close as Huff suggested.

Do not expect Tommie Campbell to re-sign before free agency opens

If he walks there are other corners available in FA that could come in and the Stamps would have money to be able to do that at least. Hopefully he reconsiders.

If its not there are some pretty good free agent options Ronnie Yelle is a very good boundry corner, for example, and he's still pretty young.

To me Campbell is head and shoulders better than anyone else they could find in FA though. Teams simply didnt throw his way for the most part because it was futile. That's a special corner who commands that kind of respect. Yeah he had a dreadful GC, but stuff like that happens at times.

Really hope he comes back but that ^^ tweet doesn't make it sound very good.

Watch him go to Sask. and we find out somewhere down the line that Jones broke some sort of rule/cap to get him.

Hopefully Campbell comes back, but I do agree that between someone like Yelle or Mitchell White the Stamps could cover their bases quite well. Ideally he comes back, but I don't think they are in deep trouble if they can get either of those two.

I like to see him upgrade at SAM especially with it looking like Burnett not coming back, and depth at Safety would help with Bell moving on. Adeleke flashed for may either spot but need some depth in behind him. Not sure I really see other positions that can be aided via FA. I think Stamps look to the draft for O-Line depth.

https://www.stampeders.com/2018/02/1...gn-deron-mayo/

The Calgary Stampeders have re-signed international linebacker Deron Mayo.

Mayo has spent six seasons with the Stampeders but was limited to a single game in 2017 because of a knee injury.

“Deron continues to work hard on rehabbing his knee and we’re hopeful that it progresses to a point that will allow him to return to the field in 2018,” said Stampeders president and general manager John Hufnagel. “He has been an excellent player and strong leader for us and his return would provide us with a tremendous boost. We will re-assess Deron’s medical status prior to the start of training camp.”

I really thought Mayo would be the odd man out with his injury and such. Surprised.

Damn...Campbell leaving really sucks...and just reading the tea leaves of that tweet...sounds like he is leaving over something minor but enough to play the "principle" card.

Huge loss.

Though Meyo coming back is good news if he is good to go...had forgotten how good he was a couple years ago.

Interesting comments given Huff made it seem like they were so close, that reads like they never were. Also seems like he felt that he should have been a higher priority.

I think it's only a huge loss if they don't get a replacement as I said I think there are a few that could so be interesting if Huff changes course on his normal FA route.

Not sure if this is a Campbell replacement or just some additional depth. Not sure how much corner vs HB he played but sounds like Stamps have liked him for a while.

https://www.stampeders.com/2018/02/1...ns-stampeders/

he Calgary Stampeders have signed national defensive back and special-teamer Adam Berger.

Berger was a fourth-round draft pick of the Stamps in 2012 and spent four years in Calgary including the 2014 Grey Cup championship season. He signed with the Ottawa RedBlacks in 2017.

For his CFL career, Berger has 19 defensive tackles, 23 special-teams tackles, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, three knockdowns and one blocked punt in 71 games.
