Hall is a top 3 LW on the Devils though, that's for sure.

Why? I said he was top 10 but not top 3, meaning he could be anywhere from 4 to 10.

Is it me or is it commonplace nowadays at CP to click on a thread title, start reading the posts on the last page and come to the conclusion you mistakenly clicked on a different thread than you originally anticipated? I thought this was a goaltender thread but instead it's a LW thread?

I don't want any of the Grubauer/Pickard/Raanta group. I'd like to see a veteran stop gap solution until a better option steps up. Mason or Smith will do for a year or two. Hell, I'm even ok with Elliot coming back for a year or two.

Did anyone listen to Friedman on the Fan today? He speculated that MAF and Vegas were the likely landing spot and that McPhee has been aggressive in trying to acquire him. Not good for the Flames IMO.

Will MAF waive his NTC to go from Stanley Cup champion to expansion team? I'm going to guess no

So I think I know what I want the Flames to do finally, now that I've come to terms with my dreams of Bishop being bludgeoned to death.
1. Sign one of Elliott, Mason or Bernier to a 1 year deal if possible, at most 2 years.
2. Trade for Grubauer and sign to a 2 year deal.
I'm guessing the two combined would account for $5-6 million MAX against the cap.
Get a young guy with upside to platoon with a more veteran guy. Really wanted a proven starter to take the reigns here, but unless an unexpected guy becomes available (can you tell I'm not an MAF fan? haha) that isn't going to happen.
I wouldn't be comfortable with any of Elliott, Mason or Bernier being the full time starter next season.
I also wouldn't be comfortable with Grubauer being the full time starter next season.
Maybe both together can get the job done with hopefully Grubauer eventually just taking the net and turning into a full fledged NHL starter over the next 2 seasons.

It's definitely disappointing that many of our competitors in the West have made significant upgrades in goal over last 2 years while we wait.
Hopefully the "process" ends up pulling a rabbit out of a hat.

I personally am hoping the Flames target a team that is on the verge of a rebuild and has a legit #1 like Rask or Schneider and targets them.
No more half measures.

I could live with that for sure. I wouldn't trust Grubauer to be a 60 game guy next season so having Elliot, Mason or Bernier as a 1b guy would be nice.
What would it take to get Grubauer? He does seem like the most likely Capital to be picked in the expansion draft.

Probably not much. 2nd or 3rd round pick IMO. Or maybe they like Rittich and would take him and 4th or 5th round pick for Grubauer.

There is a ton of smoke around this. Fleury gets to play in a pressure free, warm climate location to finish out his current deal then sign with whom ever he pleases. He could have 3 rings by the summer including back to back cups so perhaps he looks at the work life balance and likes what Vegas has to offer?

I voted Fleury, I think; can't remember now. Still would like to have him with only a couple years left on his contract.
But, there isn't anyone I'm in love with. In fact, if I were the Flames, if I knew I could sign a UFA goalie (including Condon, Elliott- placeholders, I guess) for relatively low dollars and short term, I'd strongly consider that route.

The team should win with whatever goalie you put in. If not, the team suck anyway and need to learn how to win by playing more on the other end of the ice. So, put Gilles in and re-sign Chad Johnson and let them figure it out.
If the one thing that is obvious during the playoffs is playing solely in your own zone for a prolong period of time, the other team is going to score no matter how good your goalie is. If the Flames haven't learned that hard lesson yet, get bigger guys who'd finish the checks in the defensive and offensive zones. Goalies don't make checks 99.9% of the time and they don't score either.

Honestly, the move I want to see the most is replacing Sigalet with another goalie coach. I just don't think he's good enough of a coach for our team.

The track records for the goalies under his guidance is a damning appraisal of his tenure.

Yes, that's kinda what you said. When the Flames talked to Pittsburgh last summer, all the talk was that the ask was our 1st... Tkachuk (although I think I recall another option that was Backlund and a couple of seconds).
Either way, last summer the price for Fleury was just too rich... period.
