And no, the biggest "upset" in sports history was last year when Leicester city won BPL entering the season at an odds of 5000:1 after never having won it in 148 years. I can't think of any single sporting event that could possibly happen that would top that. The team seen the rise and fall of an empire, went through multiple wars and didn't go anywhere significagant until the year 2016.
|
I would say the Miracle on Ice was an even bigger upset than that.

I'm in Asia and the start time suits me just fine--10:30 as well (AM).
But I feel for you Josef, two years ago I was up in the middle of the night in London every game for the playoffs.

I just realized that Lindholm is back. Bit of a drag...would have been nice facing a Ducks team sans both him and Fowler. Hopefully Fowler's out longer than he's in for the duration of this series.
It'll be a battle, but there's no reason the Flames shouldn't be able to make a series of it. We're healthy and rearing to go this time around, and will enjoy the presence of the esteemed captain himself on the ice. Glen will have the boys ready to go. The dark forces that haunt the Honda Center are a real concern, but as others have said, if the Flames can earn the split in the first two...away we go.

No. We dont have dominant puck possession #1 center and no legit #1 RW. other lines are k and defense is ok in terms of top end talent.
note: this was supposed to be in differend thread.

12:30pm for me. For the weekend games it gives me time to get to the beach and for the weekday games it gives me time to get some work done before going home sick.

Agree josef. So used to waking up from 1-4:30 am /depending where we play/ that it is part of my life :-) The only problem I have with that, is that I am getting older and older, and I can feel the lack of the sleep in the evenings after Flames games so much lately, that I am able to fall asleep at 8 pm, and that is something my wife is not very happy about :-)
As for the series, I have really, really good feeling about it. Don´t know why, but I really do think we will advance and will not be surprised with 2:0 lead after those 2 games in ANA! GO FLAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ducks in 5.
Could be Ducks in 6 if Elliott steals a game.

2015 Hudler was pretty good. Led the team in scoring and produced in the playoffs. Tkachuk brings a different aspect to the game but let's not pretend we're not missing a guy with Hudler's offense from that year.

I know Calgary is capable of beating Anaheim in a best of 7 series. I can see that with my own eyes when the teams play.
The Ducks have just been much better at capitalizing on their scoring chances. They do a pretty good job of keeping the scoring chances out of the danger areas. When the Flames have had those chances they've shown no damn finish. It's very frustrating to watch.
If they can steal game 1 or 2 in Anaheim their confidence will be boosted enough to steal the series.

This matchup is timed perfectly. I'm in San Diego for work and will be at the game on Thursday for sure. Any other CP'ers gonna be there? I did pack two red Flames jerseys with me (Monahan & Iginla).
The sky is blue - and the sea is red!
Go Flames - Yeah Baby!

Flames have been compared to the Blackhawks, it's time to play the Ducks like Chicago would.
Avoid the scrums, avoid the after whistle crap. Let the Ducks take the penalties and punish them on the powerplay.
Finish every check with authority, but as soon as the whistle goes, turn away from everything and go straight to the bench. This will drive Kesler, Bieksa, and Perry mad.
The only way to get a #### disturber off his game, is to not get disturbed.

This is posted next to the door to the locker room:
Flames have seen these past two weeks how to play (and how not to play) the LA and Anaheim's of the NHL. Belief, discipline, and playing the right way will go a long ways in this series.
