Ya which is it? I am confused. It looks like we are getting screwed, but would like to actually know the true stats.
Edit: explained above....ignore my slowness.

IMO, Johnny is displaying a lot of frustration in his game; not just on the non-calls on his breakaways. I wonder if he is putting too much pressure on himself due to his new contract?

I have also wondered whether this is playing into it. We will never truly know either way.

Hahah
What?
As if the Oilers are some measure of the best of the best? They're definitely better than they have been, and they're 2nd in the league right now, but I'm not sure they're "the team to beat" just yet.

Can't just look at penalties for and against...have to actually watch the games
If its just supposed to be even why even have refs?
Last night the Flames get a penalty for a hit, Backlund gets one for....not sure. Punch in the face and a BLATANT hook on a break away, ref standing right there while the guy is water skiing. NOTHING?
Sometimes JG needs to chill but on that one I wasn't even composed in my own living room so its gotta be hard for the guy on the ice. He likely sees the treatment other young stars are getting and thinks WTF? Honestly the Flames need to talk to the league if they haven't already. They want to protect young stars apparently...buy only ones who's last names start with M.

Can't do that for a while. The Flames play 37 games before they play the Oilers again, at which point the Oilers will be bottom 5 in the league and the Flames will be in a Playoff spot.
But i'll be sure to call you then.

Well the Oilers beat the Flames to charging 12.50 for a beer, so there's that I guess.

Undoubtedly. But lucky for us, they don't make rash decisions after 2 weeks of play. If it was up to you, we'd have no GM right now and no head coach. The only guy thinking the hot seat is heating up, is you and a handful of others who make up the vocal minority and happen to be the loudest ones here.
And guess what, the Flames definitely are going to lose 2 games in a row again. Maybe even 3 or 4. I'll bet the same thing happens to the eventual cup champ also.
What happens then? You'll scream and whine about it like you always do. That's what will happen.

You should check my posts since the season started. All i called for was the special teams coach to be sacked and Treliving to take heat if this continued. Hardly panic.
I was harsh on players but they deserved it the way they were playing.
Anyways hopefully this is how they continue to play. I'd love for the players to prove me wrong and have a successful PP.

I'm not saying he's the perfect coach with the perfect system. But I sure as heck wasn't on board with firing him 2 weeks into the season.
The team definitely deserves credit for the last 2 games. That's all I'm saying. The team deserves a chance to show what it can do. And regardless of how many wins/losses they have, it's going to take more then 2 weeks to see what they've got.

Amen brotha.
Especially considering he was playing half a deck short with all the top players only showing effort in the last 2 games.
Mike Babcock couldn't get a team to win with the best system ever if the players aren't skating hard and three quarters of the team were barely breaking a sweat the first 6 games. You can't succeed if you're not working hard.

Johnny needs to stop relying on the ref to stop the play and make the call because history has shown, those who become known as whiners don't get the calls that deserve to be called.
As honest as we all believe the refs are in the NHL (sarcasm..) they have a tendency to play favorited as well.
I truly believe that if Johnny doesn't stop and whine in those first two breakaways this season, he get the call last night.
But if you think for a second that there isn't already chatter amongst refs about JG and being weak on the puck and waiting.. no.. depending on the ref to make a call cause he's lost possession, then you have not watched enough hockey in your life. This #### happens all the time and isn't going to stop. There's a reason why the term "the player has to fight through it" exists.

As usual your post is full of drama and over-reacting.
As I said in my post, last night he wasn't taken out of the play by his own protest. It was the stick around his neck that moved him past the play. He then turned his head and chirped the reff (with good reason) about the egregious non-call and then kept skating.
Much ado about nothing, and if there was anything to comment on about that play, it's that it was another in a series of non-calls that was embarrassingly bad.

Just a wild theory, but maybe we're seeing the refs trying to be sneaky with their Wideman bias now?
They'll get fired if they keep calling Wideman on nothing calls so they just stop calling penalties on any player obstructing Johnny to even things out.

A few comments:
I'm liking Ferland on the PP, big body in front..
Tkachuk looked great, I'm hoping he stays for the year.
Bennett finally creating a bit more space there, maybe he IS going to break out this year.
Oh and now I thank Gaskal's ATL report before even reading it heh
