Backlund/Frolik or TBB should be able to take advantage of that Pool Party line, whoever ends up getting minutes against them.
I think TBB against their third line would be awesome. Draisaitl drafted right above Bennett and Pool Party drafted ahead of Tkachuk. Should be interesting.

Also this is only game 1. I think this is being done in order to not ride Brodano to early in the season. I'm certain they will be reunited at some point. Heck, maybe even halfway through this game.
This is how I look at it too.
If we can spare Brodie / Gio minutes most nights...they'll have more in the tank at the end of the season.
BUT -> if the game is on the line in the 3rd I totally expect Brodano to play 12 minutes out of 20. Together.
I bet my friend that Lucic won't fight tonight. I figured he only gets into 3-5 a year and there's a 1 in 82 chance. So I took that bet and ran.
So I'm hoping for a calm game of hockey
He pretty much has to make some sort of statement tonight. Big contract, big stage etc. He could do it with hitting or scoring but if those fail (as I hope they do) you have to think he's gonna drop 'em.
I don't think the odds are 1/82

For those of us that will be using Gamecentre, I noticed on the GC site that tonight's Flames vs Oilers game will be ''Gameplus" enhanced. During the world cup, that meant extra camera angles, including the ref cam.
I'm not exactly sure if all of that will be included in tonight's broadcast. But it would be pretty swell if it did.
Quote:
To ramp up GameCenter, Rogers has just announced GamePlus, a new exclusive feature for the company’s mobile and tablet customers. Essentially GamePlus will bring 6 new camera angles for customers to choose from during games, bringing video replays “in less than three minutes after the action happened.”
Quote:
Only select NHL games each week will feature GamePlus access, to go with select playoff games, the All-Star game and the Winter Classic.
Sky Cam sits at the 200 level in the Air Canada Centre and follows the puck red line to red line at six metres per second;
Ref Cam is on the referee’s helmet and puts fans on the ice to get in on face offs, breakaways and goals;
POV Cam spotlights the hustle from inside the blue lines and for the first time inside the players’ benches;
Star Cam tracks a single player throughout the game no matter where the puck goes;
Goal Line Cam provides a top-down view of the ice, directly above the offensive action;
MyReplay lets fans select multiple replay angles to analyze key plays during the game, including goals, power plays, penalty kills, and the ref’s tough calls.
They had this during the World Cup and it was pretty sweet to watch ref cam, overhead views, and other angles on the fly. Maybe one of the perks of playing in a brand new NHL arena?

Unsure about Kevin being sat in favor of Grossmann. I just hope this isn't a sign of Kevin being the coaches dog house resident. He's far too good for that.

It sounds like he is, unfortunately.
The splitting up of the top 3 D is the more pressing issue though, IMO.
Squiggs can you get the Post Game Thread up and running? 8pm start time and rumours of a long ceremony have me worried I'll miss it, would prefer it ASAP.
