Who wants to write Game-Day Threads?

I honestly believe if the original post had been more along the lines of

Guys, the season is fast approaching and I realize that my time during the week is short and I don't think I can do as many GDT 's as I once did. I would still like to the weekend games as I have a little more time and I do enjoy starting them up. Just wanted to give a heads up incase anyone else is interested in getting involved.

It may have been better received. It's almost like Wannamaker, you can't force something. At some point the thread may have even evolved to the point where a sign up and schedule is looked at as a great idea. The thread had a weird vibe from the get go and as usual took on a life of its own and dragged a few issues along with it.

Hopefully people will still step up to the plate and start game day threads to generate discussion and excitement about the game. I know I'm excited just reading squiggs start of the season thread.

I'm not sure someone fishing for thanks is worth a witch hunt and such derision. People are generally awful around here at times. Jeez

The OP should contain most, if not all, of the necessary information. If I started the Free Agency GDT without the necessary information to keep it going through the day, people would've gotten mad. The OP should be intended to house the write-up, lines, and projections for that day's game.

No actually it's not stupid. What is stupid however is the incessant desire and ideology that a long winded original GDT post has to be of a certain length to ensure all the information is present in the initial post. Furthermore, to use an excuse like that so to not want to scroll down to get any additional information on the game.

As mentioned whoever wants to start a GDT do it. If it's missing lines or info someone can post below it. It's been like this on forums since the beginning of this thing we called the Internet. It's not like the absence of a schedule is going to create a free for all with dozens of threads of the same ilk. At most it will be one extra thread which eventually will be locked so to keep one consistent thread.

Trust me on this, even if there is some perceived schedule made up by God knows who, it wouldn't stop me from starting a GDT if one hasn't been created and I had something to write up on that was relevant to the game. Not every GDT has to be of the similar structure.

Everyone has there own way of doing things. So what if there is no continuity. Information is information. I appreciated both Cali and HDs write ups. However if someone else did one before they did, so be it. Even if the info was less that what we normally would see from the two.

I am with soulchoice on this.

I like to see GDTs but admit I will not be the one to create them.

If there is no GDT, I support the idea to go ahead and make one.

If you do make one, maybe I can suggest that you consider your own motivations. If the kudos are what you seek, what better way than to make it a solid GDT. Part of what makes CP great is the quality of the contributors.

If you do start a GDT, like it or not, just accept that most people likely appreciate it and some people will be judging it. Cali and HD have posted high quality GDTs, which has set a reasonably high bar. We are all fortunate to have been on the receiving end of their efforts.

There is certain content which have consistently appeared in GDTs, such as lineups, context, some good photos of previous matches, etc. The GDT OP may not capture all of what you personally wish to see, and that is why it is a thread. If there is something they didn't capture that is important to you, add to it.

If you are posting a GDT, presumably you want not just be the first to post, rather if it is important enough to you to make it, you want to have a solid contribution.

I respect Cali's contribution and the effort that was put in to it. I trust that he had only the best intentions for all of you to share that he didn't think he could post GDTs for all games and invite others to contribute. By virtue of having done so many, (whether he says it or someone else did) he sort of did become the de facto GDT guy. And he values the GDT enough to want to see it continue, when he can't be the go to guy.

I admire Scorpion's enthusiasm and trust that he wants to contribute in a positive way, and expect that his GDTs will be fine.

If a group of people want to come together and organize who volunteers for GDTs ahead of time, great. Presumably this coordination results in that these will show up earlier in the day.

If for some reason, there is no GDT, and you feel strongly enough about it, step up and make one.

The more content provided that people expect in the initial post, the better. If there is something missing, add to it.

Again, I like the GDTs, but admitting I won't make them, just hope to see them continue in a constructive fashion.
