I only watched USWNT's first game but as a unit they looked to be maybe half the team that ran the table at the World Cup here a year ago. Weaker at the front, the midfield, the back... and then Solo was garbage when she's usually the best in the world.

Sundhage coached the U.S. from 2008–2012, including a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics, and piloted her native Sweden to a win on penalty kicks Friday. Team USA was knocked out of the tournament with the loss and Solo called the Swedish team “a bunch of cowards,” citing their defensive-minded tactics. Her comments instantly caused controversy, and when asked, Sundhage didn”t mince words.

Geez, no kidding. Before I read it, even after reading your comment above, I didn't expect him to give it to himself that badly.
Clearly he was still in an emotional (and exhausted, by the sounds of it) state when he gave that interview, he needs to rest and shake it off a bit. I feel bad for the guy.

Looking a lot like the 2012 bronze medal game right now. All the action is around Canada's goal but no great chances.

A big story for me so far is the complete lack of 'clutch' in the Canadian men's team, while the women are clutching everything!
Canadian women are awesome!

France was inches from scoring at the end of the half. Still scoreless.
